I have been in Troy since 1979 and DO NOT want to be a part of Macomb County. If I wanted to be in Macomb Cty I would have move there! The students in my neighborhood attend Avondale Schools, not Troy, so they are redistricted in that sense now. All of Novi should be kept together. Separating current Pct 14 from the rest of the city segregates the AAPI population in that area from other communities with similar interests.

We dislike having Troy be a part of District 6 in Macomb County. We chose and have lived in our Troy home for 44 years in the area which is definitely more related to Birmingham than to Troy. Our son attended Pembroke Elementary School, Derby Middle School, and Seaholm High School, all of which are Birmingham public schools. He still coaches sports in Birmingham, as he has for years; and I taught in Birmingham’s public middle schools for a portion of my teaching career. My grandsons, who live in Troy, also attended Birmingham’s public schools.

I disagree with grouping Troy with Macomb County cities. This does not make any sense. As a Troy resident, Troy should remain with Rochester, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills, as these are the cities that my family primary associates with for parks, education, etc. Do not change this…it is 100% wrong…especially to do it in such a quiet way without involving Troy residents. Oakland county is an automation hub. Splitting it between Macomb and Wayne counties would be disastrous economically and socially and it should not happen.

The current map fails to consider the communities of interest within Oakland County. It does not make sense to have the Novi area (proposed District 3) extend into Wayne County while separating Novi from the surrounding areas in our own county. South Lyon, Lyon Township, and New Hudson should all be in a district which is predominantly made up of Oakland County communities, which all have shared resources, schools, histories, and infrastructure. For example, the City of Novi has 4 school districts within its boundaries: Novi, Walled Lake, South Lyon, and Northville. These communities have strong ties to one another and within the Oakland County community. They should be kept together as much as possible. Placing Novi with the city of Troy will also ensure that the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community is able to be properly represented. These two areas make up one of the largest concentration of AAPI residents anywhere in the United States. They deserve to be heard in this process.

No way, Jamestown is not a community of interest with Kent County.

This map needs some adjustments. This commission cannot be afraid to re-examine West Michigan. Ottawa County is split far too much here. That is not an honest assessment of the county and details the commissions lack of knowledge pertaining to this area of the map. Kent County being whole makes sense but it shouldn't bleed into Ottawa County either. The bordering townships such as jamestown, Georgetown, tallmadge, chester, and wright, are not only part of Ottawa County but that is how they associate as well. Connecting Lake Michigan in Ottawa County with Saginaw Bay in Aernac County isn't right. Muskegon should also fit into this map instead of being placed with Midland County. It's frustrating to see the commission continue to use this as a starting map when so much is not reflective of the communities in West Michigan.

Here again, this District is not drawn fairly. Detroit is not connected with the Downriver communities of Allen Park and Taylor. There is no shared nor common interest between the cities. There can be no fair and equal representation the way the map is currently drawn for Detroit Wayne County. Having representation for Royal Oak, Ferndale Oakland County and mixing Hamtramck, Detroit Wayne County is an unfair map. Oakland County Royal Oak, Ferndale should remain together and the Wayne County Detroit and Hamtramck should tie together with their shared interest. I know this has been a tiring process but please review before making final map. Fairness is always appreciated.

Keep all of Midland County together including the City of Midland with its west and north boundary counties. You have supposedly spent the last two weeks reading through all the reasons expressed by the citizens therefore hearing "all" the very good reasons to keep Midland County intact with our northwest neighbors. Not sure why we have to say it over and over again and then not see any corrective actions implemented.

As someone who has lived in both Troy and Sterling Heights, I have to object to putting Troy in a district with Sterling Heights and Macomb County. Troy is far more connected to the other communities in Oakland County, such as Rochester and Birmingham, than it is connected to Sterling Heights. One major example: our schools are a major component of and strength in our community. By districting Troy with Sterling Heights and other communities, I fear that our schools will not be a focus of our legislator, as the legislator will be representing a majority of communities in the Macomb County ISD, as opposed to Oakland Schools. As another example: If you go to the Troy Chamber of Commerce website and search for the businesses who are members, you will see members from the adjoining communities in Oakland County (again, Birmingham, Rochester), but very few businesses from Macomb County. By splitting Troy into another district, you will be disempowering residents. I implore you to reconsider.

Carving Troy away from most of its Oakland County neighbors simply makes no sense. I strongly disapprove of this map.

We are faced with many unique challenges in Gladwin County and have suffered a disastrous setback with the recent floods that impacted much of both Gladwin and Midland County. We have worked tirelessly with many entities throughout all of Midland County on efforts aimed at recovery, but also on ways to mitigate future disasters. Thank you for your efforts; however carving the communities apart without recognition of the economic impact of separating the City of Midland from these regional efforts will hurt Gladwin County and our watershed and economic work long term.

I live in Royal Oak but I lived and worked for many years in southern Macomb County. Hazel Park and Madison Heights should be part of District 3 as part of southern Oakland County. I shop and eat in these cities and have friends and family there. Oakland county is big but I would like to add that southern Oakland county communities are very connected to one another. Don't split us up. And I'm sorry to say this, but pulling Warren out of Macomb County would be a shocking gerrymander like move. It also would hurt the city because it would be overshadowed by Detroit. Warren has a special connection with Sterling Heights and they both should be with the rest of Macomb County.

Communities in Oakland County share a great deal of economic ties, schools of choice, participation in Oakland Community College, and ethnic and religious diversity. Oakland communities should all stay in an Oakland County district.

Troy and Rochester/Rochester Hills should be grouped with their neighbor cities to the west and south in Oakland County. Given that they have much more in common with those communities and schools/sports/etc. for these communities are focused in Oakland County, it makes little sense to district them with Macomb.

I appreciate the hard work of the Redistricting Commission, but I think the proposed division of Oakland County is wrong. As a Royal Oak resident, I have significant connections with the citizens and services of cities like Troy and Rochester Hills. The interests of the Macomb eastern (lake area) and northern (farm area) have little in common with places like Troy and Rochester Hills. Thank you.

As a proud Michigander, I strongly believe Macomb communities should stay in a Macomb County district. Warren and Sterling Heights are very similar cities with strong economic ties. Mound and Van Dyke are the main vein of American industry and belong together.

I am a resident of Troy and Oakland County. I do not want to be represented legislators and officials outside my county. Do not move Troy into Macomb County. We have nothing in common with them.

I live in Troy, in Oakland County. My kids go to the Troy School District, and later they will go to Oakland Community College, where they will in resident tuition. If they were to go Macomb Community College, they would pay out of resident tuition. This is just an example to show that we are connected to other Oakland County cities. We are not connected with Macomb County, and I don't want to be connected to them in a district when we are in different counties.

Madison Hgts should be moved to Oakland County. They are neighbors to Royal Oak and use R.O. Schools as well as Troy school. Residents spend a lot of time in R.O and Troy on the John R Corridor.

Macomb communities should stay in a Macomb County district. Warren and Sterling Heights are sister cities that share economic ties. The Mound-Van Dyke manufacturing corridor is the economic lifeblood of these communities. Everyone know these are sister cities and should remain as such.

Warren is the heart of Macomb County and is a community of interest along with Sterling Heights Accordingly, both should be in district 6.

I live in Birmingham and my children even go to school with kids from Troy. We go to Troy for shopping, socializing and find it very similar to Birmingham in many ways. The fact that they are separated in different districts on this map doesn't make sense. They are similar communities right next to each other - it doesn't make sense to split them in different districts.

As a resident of Ann Arbor for over 20 years, I find that it isn't right to combine it with Ypsilanti -> they are two entirely different types of communities and should be split up. It is common knowledge all over the state / mid-west that Ann Arbor has a unique perspective in how they view the community / role of government.

Thank you for all of your work; however, I am very concerned to see Troy being put into a district with Macomb County jurisdictions. Please keep Troy whole and completely with Oakland County. Troy does not share a community of interest with Macomb County cities. We are connected with Oakland County Government, services, recreation, and entertainment venues. We have many more commonalities with communities to our South or West and very little in common with jurisdictions to the East. I do not understand or agree with any rationale that moves Troy away from Oakland County or away from the communities in which we most often conduct business. The idea behind the Redistricting Committee was to fix issues such as communities being districted with other communities which do not share interests. This map seems to simply move the problem from one set of dissimilar cities to another set. Please keep Troy with Oakland County and with our actual communities of interest and look again to ensure that districts meet the criteria that the Committee is chartered to address.

I used to work at Macomb Community College, South Campus. Macomb communities should stay in a Macomb County district. This means that Warren should be in the same district as it's sister city, Sterling Heights. Just as the inner ring suburbs of Oakland County should be kept together, the inner ring suburbs of Macomb County should be kept together as well. The communities that line Mound, Van Dyke, Groesbeck and Gratiot use those thoroughfares to visit the same cities, neighborhoods and businesses. Do not make Warren an orphan city.

I live in Huntington Woods. Southfield needs to be moved down into District 2 because of the Voting Rights Act. With the exception of Southfield, keep the inner ring suburbs of Detroit together, this includes adding Hazel Park and Madison Heights into District 3 rather than including them with Detroit. Keep the inner ring suburbs along both sides of the Woodward Corridor of Oakland County together. We have our own vibe. The cities in the western part of this district, Northville and Novi, have nothing in common with the eastern part of this district. We have much more in common with Madison Heights and Hazel Park. You should also add Troy and Rochester Hills into this District. They belong with Oakland County, not Macomb County.

Troy, Rochester and Rochester Hills should be included in District 3. Absolutely no relevance with cities stretching out to Lake St. Clair, Be certain Ferndale and Hazel Park are fully included in District 3.

Troy does not belong in an district for Macomb County! It is part of Oakland County and the map should be divided up according to county lines. There should be no little pieces of 1 county broken off and added to a different county!

Despite Rochester Hills, Troy, and Madison Heights proximity to Macomb County, those communities have more in common with their neighboring Oakland County communities, and should be moved from District 6 to District 3. This change would allow Warren to be grouped with its neighbors in Macomb county. I realize you would have to move some communities out of district 3 - perhaps Walled Lake, Wixom, Novi, Northville, Northville Twp., and Waterford Twp.

Troy must stay where it is.. we have much more synergies with Oakland County and Rochester Hills/Rochester. Please do not even think of changing it.

I live in Auburn Hills and my community should remain whole and not divided, especially into a Macomb County district. Please keep Oakland County cities with Oakland County district to ensure we get Representatives who can focus on the needs of our community.

I thought that this redistricting was going to fix gerrymandering by grouping together counties that bordered each other. Instead I see that Troy has been cut out of Oakland county and placed in Macomb County. It does NOT belong in Macomb County. Looking at the map state wide I still see appendiges attached to districts when districts should be solid blocks according to counties. Counties should not be divided up into different districts!

I’m a W. Bloomfield resident and we have several socioeconomic similarities with Troy and Rochester. These Oakland County cities should be in our District to preserve the economic ties that connect the majority of our county’s communities. Removing Troy and Rochester from District 6 would allow the addition of Warren to the rest of Macomb County (Dist. 6). Warren and Sterling Heights are sister cities that share economic ties. The Mound-Van Dyke manufacturing corridor is extremely important to these communities of interest.

Our children attend schools in Oakland County which are supported by Oakland County Intermediate School District, again, not Macomb.

Troy belongs with other cities in Oakland County. We do not share any communities of interest with Macomb County. Our demographics are completely different. We do not work, shop, worship, etc. in Macomb County. We belong with Birmingham, Bloomfield, Clawson, Pontiac or Rochester.

Novi and Farmington Hills are sister communities with many economic and cultural ties and should be kept together. Troy and Rochester Hills are also similar communities and should be kept together. Pontiac and Waterford should remain together for the same reason. Finally, the cities of Novi, Troy and Rochester and very unified and should remain intact and whole in theses maps.

This redistricting is the definition of gerrymandering. Troy has very little in common with the counties to the east. We are in Oakland County and want to remain with Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills, and Birmingham.

I have lived in Troy for over 20 years, my husband and I moved to this community for is richly diverse culture, highly educated population and resources that are comparable to other communities in Oakland County. It is unfortunate that the idea arose to redistrict Troy with Macomb County. We have little in common with the majority of the county, especially the north and east portions that are rural. They do not support the same suburban values that the majority of Troy residents do. The voices of the Troy population will not be heard if the congressional lines are moved.

Troy is a very diverse community, and to lump it in with Macomb County doesn't make sense. Troy and Sterling Heights are very different in terms of demographics, and many of the county services in Troy are shared with other cities in the same county (Oakland County.) It doesn't make sense to move Troy, Rochester Hills, and Rochester to align with Macomb County. Keep Macomb County in it's own district, and split Oakland County into several being sure to include Troy, Rochester and Rochester Hills with other Oakland county cities.

This placement of Troy along with Rochester and Rochester Hills is very ill conceived. It places those of us who live in these communities in a voting block that have very different policy needs from each other. Our communities belong with those in the proposed District 3 because now needs are more aligned.

I am a 20 year resident of Troy. Troy along with Rochester and Rochester Hills are grouped with about 10 cities in Macomb county in this district #6 map. We really have nothing in common with these communities sprawling east as far as Lake St. Clair. Troy is a high diverse urban city with close to 30% immigrant population, highly educated (over 60% of adults in Troy are college educated) with great emphasis on public education. In contrast many of the cities in the proposed district are rural, such as Washington Township for example, is 95% white and less than 1% immigrant population and only about 32% of adults are college educated. Also being part of Oakland county, we, Troy shares many resources with other Oakland county cities, our children play and compete with other schools in Oakland county. Not much connection with cities to the east of us in Macomb county. With such stark contrasts, we really feel that our voices will be drowned out by the heavily republican voices in these cities lumped with us. So please adjust the maps and include us in a district with cities of interest to the west and south of us. Thank you for listening.

I cannot support this map. This map puts northern Bay county into a norther district. Northern Bay county hugs the shore of Saginaw Bay. We have flooding, power outage, and road impediment concerns that are similar to the rest of the Watershed. Our community of interest aligns with the southern half of Bay county. Do not split the county in this manner.

I attended meetings presented by the Independent commission from California. One of the repeated comments made by the presenters, one Democrat, one Republican, one Independent, was to keep local communities of interest together. Maps were redrawn many times to fit the needs of the communities not the politicians or parties. Oakland county needs to stay together. Ferndale needs to stay with south east Oakland county not in 3 districts. Dividing Ferndale makes this more difficult for all 3 counties not easier. Separating Troy into 2 districts is also more difficult. Keep South east Oakland county intact so communities can work together.

I grew up in Troy, a community with much of its Office space, commercial and retail base located along the 16-mile corridor. The interests of Troy's economic engine are by necessity aligned with Oakland County, rather than Macomb County. Troy's inclusion in an Oakland County district would properly align the interests of its local and federal representation reduce the need for the Member of Congress to meet with two County commissioners. This map should be rejected in its current form.

The separation of Madison Heights and Hazel Park from Oakland County separates those communities' federal representation from their representative County governments. This will create a more complex relationship between these leadership elements and marginalize the interests of those communities at either level. Aligning the interests of those levels of representation is more effective. This map should be rejected.

What is this??? Why is Taylor included with Hazel Park? What do these two communities have in common? TYhe northern suburbs, Detroit and the downriver suburbs each deserve independent representation, not another snake-like district

As someone who was born and raised in Troy, why the HECK is Troy lumped in with the east side? Troy has a lot more in common with the other Oakland County communities like Auburn Hills, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Birmingham, etc. Some of these groupings are extremely bizarre/confusing and seem to come from people who don't live, work or play in these areas regularly.

Why are Madison Heights and Hazel Park not grouped with Ferndale? Our communities are very similar and have WAY more in common with Ferndale, Royal Oak, Oak Park, etc than they do with Detroit.

The City of Midland needs to be whole with midland county. Communities are formed with common interests, likes, ideas, purpose. The counties of midland and Gladwin along with the City on Midland have a huge common purpose, the disaster of 2020!! These communities have been working together to rebuild. splitting them up would not be beneficial to that goal.

Troy, Rochester and Rochester Hills should be kept with Oakland County. They have much more in common with Oakland than they do with Macomb. Warren and Centerline should be kept with Macomb County. Hazel Park and Madison Heights should also be kept with Oakland County.

Unfortunately, this map looks like the very definition of gerrymandering. It makes absolutely no sense to cut out Midland from the rest of Midland county. Likewise, it makes no sense to cut out Saginaw and Bay City from the rest of their counties. There is little no similarity in culture or people between the three cities and it's hard to imagine any "community of interest" between them. However, there is a far greater community between Midland, Midland County, and Gladwin Counties because they were all heavily affected by the flooding that occurred in 2020. By dividing up Midland, you are dividing up a unified voice for flood recovery. Keep Midland together with Midland and Gladwin counties.

I live in Oakland County and have worked in Troy for a long time. I have no idea why Troy would be in a district with St. Clair Shores. Also, I have family that live downriver, and it makes no sense to have Warren heading all the way to Taylor and Allen Park. We chose to live in Oakland County 12 years ago, and we all know that Oakland County is a community of interest. I know this commission can make a better map than this.

Why would you separate Troy from the rest of Oakland County?

I live in Clawson and this map puts me in a district with Wixom, Walled Lake and Northville Township instead of Troy, which is a literal stones throw from my house. I find that very odd to be grouped in with those locations and not Troy, Rochester and Madison Heights, which are right down the street. Having spent the last ten years in a ridiculously drawn district, I do not wish to trade one bad set up for another. Let's try and keep actual communities with common interests together.

Troy should be drawn with other neighboring communities in Oakland County as a clear community of interest. Whether we are looking at recreation, commuting, shopping or entertainment, there is much more movement to and from Troy and other communities within Oakland County to our south and west. We share county government and some municipal services, and we deserve representation in Congress that will understand and be responsive to the needs of this whole, larger community.

Your proposed map will result in a major setback in our flood recovery and flood management efforts. Why are you cutting Sanford out of representation with Midland? The Commission appears to be ignoring the constitution which requires that they use ‘communities of interest’ to draw fair maps. Instead it appears that the Commission is trying to dilute the voices of the Midland community by adding them into larger urban centers with Flint and Saginaw. If you talk to anyone who lives in Midland, we share little in common with Saginaw and especially not with Flint!

I appreciate the difficulty of getting these maps right, but Troy and Rochester should be included with other Oakland County cities. I understand drawing districts that overlap counties in some cases, but there is a stronger COI with cities west and south of Troy/Rochester than there are east. Bloomfield, Birmingham, Clawson, Berkley, Royal Oak are all cities that make much for sense from a COI perspective than Sterling Heights, Washington Twp, Utica, etc. Thank you for all your hard work on this!

Warren is the largest city in Macomb and the third largest city in the state of Michigan. Putting us in a congressional district with Detroit is insulting. I would note that Warren past the VNP petition by a wide margin to avoid this type of packing and gerrymandering. Warren is the heart and sole of Macomb. It has the GM Tech Center which is the anchor of the automotive industry in Macomb. With factories all up and down the Mound Van Dyke Corridor, it is wrong to separate them from the tech center. Army Tacomb is in Warren. Their are several defense businesses in Sterling Heights that work closely with Army Tacomb. Employees in these two industries live in Warren and Sterling Heights. It would be wrong to break up these two communities. Furthermore, their is a natural migration that has been happening in Macomb for decades. People live and work in Warren and Sterling Heights, then retire in Clinton Township, Shelby and Macomb. This ties these communities together through family ties and friendships. Please do not tear our community apart. We deserve to be represented together!

Novi and Troy should be in the same congressional district. The Indian Americans belonging to these cities have countless areas of interest.

Troy and Rochester Hills share a community of interest with the rest of Oakland County. These communities are much more like Oakland County with a large percent of white collar workers versus blue-collar Macomb County.

This is the worst representation of a map for the city of Midland. We would be seperated from Midland County, then put in with metropolatan areas such as Bay City, Saginaw and Flint. This is in direct conflict with our community of interest. My husband's cousins own over 1000 acres of land less than 5 miles north of me on the same road that i get on to to leave my neighborhood. We are a rural community and should not be separated from Midland County north of us as well as Isabella and Gratiot counties. We share nothing in common with Saginaw and Flint,, nor do they share anything in common with us. When I look at comments about people living in the larger surrounding metro cities like Bay City, Saginaw, and Flint but driving to Midland to work here, thus this makes us similar in community of interest, this is absolutely ridiculous. When I worked as a respiratory therapist for some of my career I did work in Bay City and Saginaw. However, I did not choose to live there because the larger metro cities did not fit my lifestyle and belief structures. That is why I drove there and did not live there. I mean no disrespect but in these regards, which is a part of community of interest, we have nothing in common with those metro cities. We have more in common with Midland County and the surrounding rural communities. I have stated previously that I know people that have suffered significant or total home loss and/or loss of their waterfront property due to the flood of 2020 that live in the city of Midland, Sanford, and Beaverton. This map will most likely prevent everyone from receiving the assistance to get things back by separating the representation. This map seems to be clearly in conflict with the guidelines set in place by the constitution in Michigan which the commissioners are supposed to go by. It clearly states that the commission shall abide by the following criteria in proposing and adopting each plan, in order of priority: (a) Districts shall be of equal population as mandated by the United States constitution, and shall comply with the voting rights act and other federal laws. (b) Districts shall be geographically contiguous. Island areas are considered to be contiguous by land to the county of which they are a part. (c) Districts shall reflect the state's diverse population and communities of interest. Communities of interest may include, but shall not be limited to, populations that share cultural or historical characteristics or economic interests. Communities of interest do not include relationships with political parties, incumbents, or political candidates. (d) Districts shall not provide a disproportionate advantage to any political party. A disproportionate advantage to a political party shall be determined using accepted measures of partisan fairness. (e) Districts shall not favor or disfavor an incumbent elected official or a candidate. (f) Districts shall reflect consideration of county, city, and township boundaries. (g) Districts shall be reasonably compact. Please follow these guidelines and as a result this map should be eliminated and put us back to a map similar to seen in map #187 where the commissioners seemed to understand and put the map where it should be. Not sure what happened, but there seems to be a significant shift in the number of maps that put Midland back with Bay City, Saginaw, and Flint. This is very disconcerting and also questionable to me. I believe that the commissioners should look into both who is putting these maps in at this late hour, as well as what the motivation may be. Please do not use this map.

I taught in Troy for more than 40 years. Troy needs to be in Oakland County. It share common interests wiht Birmingham and Bloomfield Township.

Warren needs to be kept in the same district as the rest of Macomb County. Troy needs to be kept with the rest of Oakland County. And Southfield needs to be moved from District 3 to District 2. These are all examples of communities of interest, which is one of the more important criterion for redrawing district lines.

I live in Bloomfield and travel the short distance to Troy regularly. It clearly needs to be in the same district as the Birmingham Bloomfield area. These communities are closely tied and residents are back and forth all day. They should be in the same district.

I totally disagree with the "like" comments seen in this portal that state; share a lot of the same non profits, I visit Midland a lot, and Midland shares more in common with Bay City, Saginaw, and Flint. First of all these comments come from outside Midland and Midland County so how would they know; Secondly regarding to sharing a lot of the same non profits they must be referring to Salvation Army, Red Cross, and others like this that are seen in every city and county across the state and the U.S. so it makes no sense to roll us together for that reason. We may have some of these non profits in common, but the needs are vastly different in each community. Midland is not similar to Saginaw and Flint in needs; Thirdly, regarding the point that someone stated that they visit Midland frequently does not mean that we share the same community of interest, and they would not know the relevence of this because they do not live in Midland. Visiting a city does not give you an understanding of the community of interest of that city. I travel to Birch Run quarterly, but that does not mean that Midland is similar to Birch Run in their community of interest. Lastly one comment states that we have more in common with these larger metro cities than Midland County. THat is Nonsense. We share some of the same schools, healthcare system, sports teams for youth and adults, shopping, ... We do not go to these other metro cities for any of these things. These comments do not hold water and are meant only to get Midland into their larger population of votes so that Midland is separated from rural communities and our vote is diluted.

Having worked in Warren with lots of Macomb County residents, I know Warren is the heart of Macomb County. It doesn't make sense that it should be with anything that is not Macomb County, it's COI.

Troy needs to stay in an Oakland County district like 3.

I used to be a Ferndale resident. Hazel Park is separated from it. Hazel Park and Ferndale share schools and are a community of interest. They should be together.

You have separated people from their counties and municipalities by including this section of Oakland and Macomb with Wayne. This district does not reflect a shared community of interests.

I see comments from people from Midland saying we are similar to Saginaw and Flint. This can't be farther from the truth. We have no similarities with these two cities. Their big issues are poor schools and high crime rates. Midland has some of the best schools and a very low crime rate. People in Midland do not typically go shopping in Flint or Saginaw. This is just not accurate at all. We have much more in common with the rural counties of Gladwin, Isabella and Arenac counties especially because of the ongoing issues with the dams and flooding.

I definitely think Midland connects most with Bay City - Saginaw - Flint. My one concern is splitting off the rest of Midland County. I live in Homer Township, about 3 miles south of Sanford. However, I connect with Midland for schools, doctors, exercise programs, church and shopping. I know friends who live in Sanford would say the same because I see them in those places. For medical specialists, I head to Bay City or Saginaw. For more extensive shopping, to Saginaw or Flint. For regional church gatherings, I head to Flint or Clarkston. Those are all part of my "home" area. Even though I am equidistant between Mt. Pleasant and Saginaw, it never crosses my mind to go to Mt. Pleasant for doctors or shopping. They are not part of my Tri-City community. Without including Saginaw and Flint, Midland would be a pretty white-washed district, so I think it is important to keep Midland with those areas for that reason also. I appreciate the unity of interest represented by this map as well as the diversity of race and economic status, I'd just like to see ALL of Midland County included in that connection.

This map ignores the communities of interest of Midland and Gladwin for flood recovery and watershed management, as well as the agricultural community of interest that benefits from representation that understands the importance of agriculture here in Midland and Central Michigan. Midland County should be kept whole in this process and be included in a district that is representative of the innately rural agriculture base that makes up Central Michigan.

The residents of Midland County want to be kept together in one congressional district for many community interests as well for the surrounding “communities of interests” that we share. My family lives in all areas of Midland County, many within just miles of city limits, and my immediate family lives less than 2 miles from the City of Midland. We were all affected by the recent flooding in both 2017 and 2020. The downtown Midland area within the City of Midland was drastically affected. As a result of the conditions downtown, all surrounding areas were directly affected as water spilled over and backed up from the merging rivers, thus affecting those living outside the city limits. Removing the city of Midland will result in a major setback in our flood recovery and flood management efforts. Gladwin County needs to remain in the same district to ensure continuity and a united effort in our flood recovery and watershed management. The City of Midland does not belong in a district with larger urban centers, Saginaw and Flint. It appears that the Commission is attempting to dilute the voices of the Midland community.

Pinconning & Linwood should be kept in with the rest of Bay County in District 11. The watershed, the shoreline, the County seat, the school district are just a few of the common interests that tie these areas together. I don't feel that our interests will be represented if we are not included with District 11.

This removing the city of Midland from Midland county make NO SENSE!!!! We have suffered from an catastrophic disaster last year !! Along with Gladwin county the county of Midland is struggling to re turn to some kind of "normal". As a councilman of the Village of Sanford I strongly oppose this map.

Keep the residents of Midland County in one district. Do not include Saginaw, Bay City, Pinconning, etc. It seems as though you are trying to keep it the same as before, where the interest and votes in the city of Midland are overshadowed & ignored by the outlying areas.

This map is terrible for Midland. I am a 30 year resident of city of Midland and want to be kept with my county and watershed counties. WE ARE PHYSICALLY CONNECTED BY OUR WATERSHED. I have lived through many floods and the multi million dollar project to restore our watershed in concert with out county and Gladwin only can be successful by having focused representation. Flint and Saginaw will not represent our needs and is a purely artificial grouping of communities. We are a small community with completely different needs compared to Saginaw and Flint and pretending otherwise is disingenuous. Saginaw and Flint have many important issues distinct from ours and we should not dilute their efforts. Please do NOT carve out the city of Midland. Midland and Sanford were ground zero for the recent flood and should not be artificially separated.

This makes very little sense and seems to bypass many of the criteria established by the constitution. It seems that the very reason to redistribute is the base reason for this map - to make one political party more competitive over another

I do not feel the Sanford Lake Sanford area should be in district 13, but rather District 11. We work, shop, worship, in the Midland area and are more in tune with this area.

This is the worst form of gerrymandering for political reasons. I grew up in Bay City and now live in Midland. There is very little that these communities share. The "tri cities" moniker is a marketing myth. Please do not put midland in with Saginaw and Filint.

At no point should Midland ever be included with Flint or Saginaw, and Midland county should never be split apart. Anyone who’s ever visited midland knows that there is no singly part anywhere in the county or city that resembles any of the district it was drawn into. Listen to residents. It’s your job.

It is not a natural fit to include Edwards Twp in Ogemaw County, one little chunk into 13. Edwards Twp is a rural community with values and an economy the same as 12.

Some serious gerrymandering going on here, and on the east side of this Kent County district.

Good to see Kent together, but apparently that can only come at the expense of Ottawa County, which is once again Gerrymandered incoherently, and separated from Muskegon. There seems to be no rhyme or reason, except to breakup the Lakeshore economic region and make assumptions for the eastern 1/3 of our county. At the same time, placing Kalamazoo/Portage into a Lakeshore district is the opposite of reasonable. Make it simple! Restore the Lakeshore! Ottawa County Belongs Together!
