I have been in Troy since 1979 and DO NOT want to be a part of Macomb County. If I wanted to be in Macomb Cty I would have move there! Please stop making changes to satisfy political group instead of citizens. We pay the taxes and should be able to live in the county of our choosing. DO NOT MAKE Troy a part of Macomb County!
K lan
Do not like to move Troy city to Macomb County. Troy should stay with Oakland County
John Michael Elsen
This map does not represent our values towards ESG. It does not look towards the future for Midland which is North and West. We have a tradition with Saginaw and Bay City, but not Flint.
Aldona Sonta
Troy should remain with its Oakland County neighbor cities - communities with which it has so much in common. I don't see any logic in pairing it with Macomb County communities. Thank you for your work on this project.
Jiahao Gu
We want Troy to stay in Oakland County! We have connected to the Oakland County services for over decades, really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county.
Charles Hodgman
I prefer the map that places Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids in the same district.
Gary R Thompson
I've lived in Troy for almost 30 years, I feel strongly that Troy should remain a part of Oakland County. We are a community of interest with cities here and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area., having no common interests with communities in Macomb County reaching as far as Lake St. Clair. I want my tax dollars to remain in Oakland County as well. Quit messing with redistricting to favor Republican constituents. They are in the minority and not of the same mindset as those of us who read and wish to save our democracy from autocratic rule.
Aarthi Arunachalam
We want Troy to stay in Oakland County. We are deeply connected to all common services in Oakland county and have no connection with the communities in Macomb!
Judy Holmes
We want Troy to stay within Oakland County! I work for the Troy School District and we are deeply connected to all of our services in Oakland County. Troy belongs with Rochester, Rochester Hills, Birmingham, Bloomfield. We have a very diverse, high quality education system that needs to remain in Oakland County.
Sumit
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We want Troy to stay with Rochester Hills and Bloomfield! Don't want our voices to be lost.
Preetha Ghosh

Denise Sauter
Troy does NOT belong with Macomb County! We are an Oakland County city, with similar interests and concerns as other Oakland County residents, like Rochester, Rochester Hills and Bloomfield. Do NOT put us in Macomb County voting district. Our voices will not be heard.
Vennie Balaraman
Troy needs to be with Oakland to maintain the current Community Interests. Please don't change
Sandra Matthews
Troy belongs to Oakland County and needs to remain it. Our highly diverse population is oriented to the attitudes and beliefs held by the typical Oakland County voter, and many of us do not have such conservative views as a typical Macomb County voter. Our voices could be lost. Do NOT redraw boundaries placing Troy in Macomb County. We are from Oakland County and want to stay that way.
Dan Pace
We would like Troy to stay with Oakland County for voting district purposes, so that our votes are counted along with other voices who share similar characteristics and concerns. We fear that our voices would be diluted if we were joined with Macomb.
Cindy Xavier
Troy should stay in Oakland County as it stands today. It's a BIG NO from me and my family. Troy has nothing in common with cities within Macomb County.
Vijayalakshmi Chandrani
We want Troy to stay with Rochester, Rochester hills and Bloomfield in Oakland County. Troy has nothing in common with folks in Macomb county. Please do not create this mess and make lives miserable. Thanks
JAYAGOPAL APPUKUTTY
We have been living in Troy for the past 21 years and we want Troy to stay in Oakland county. We have NO connections to Macomb county in any way, shape or form and we want to stay in OAKLAND county.
Gurinder Sodhi
Troy should stay in Oakland County
Zheng Qin

We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.
Jane Weyhrauch
We want Troy to stay in Oakland Co. where representation can be similar to other cities in Oakland Co. We share ideals, community interests, value ideas and community services which we value are part of our community. We have little in common with Macomb county either in ideals, or community values. This county stretches all the way to Lake St. Clair.
CHELAINE ann Fair
Troy does not belong in Macomb County !!!! Leave troy in Oakland County where it belongs!!!
Janet Jennings
Troy should stay with Oakland County along with Rochester Hills and Rochester. Not sure why anyone would try to lump Troy into Macomb region.
R. Scott Bailey
I understand somebody somewhere needs to be on a district boundary, but separating Troy from its Oakland County neighbors seems so weird. Is there no straightforward way to transfer it and adjust the impacted districts?
Wendy L Chessin
Troy is part of Oakland County and is most strongly connected to the Oakland County communities, such as Rochester, Bloomfield Township, etc. To include it with the generally more conservative Macomb County seems like an attempt to dilute Troy's electoral choices. Keep Troy with our Oakland County neighbors.
Leslie Accardo
Troy DOES NOT belong with Macomb County! We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area.
Thomas L Jean
I want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.
Courtney Jones
Rochester/Rochester Hills should not be moved to Macomb Co. I strongly disagree. This is classic gerrymandering and clearly not what the people who pay taxes in our community want. Do NOT move our district.
KEVIN PARENT
Leave this as it was. No good reason to put Roch/Troy with Macomb County.
Ann Hailer
The city of Troy does not belong with Macomb county. The schools, interest and commerce are much more influenced by Oakland county and the neighboring cities of Birmingham and Bloomfield. Particularly our neighborhood is Birmingham Schools. Put Troy back with Oakland county.
Kar Benn
Troy belongs in Oakland county, NOT Macomb.
Robert Gibb
Troy should not be lumped into a district with Macomb county. Troy has a community and relationship that reflect the county in which it resides, Oakland County, and does not match the community in the Macomb district
Wendy Flora
Kalamazoo and Battle Creek are very similar communities and should be included together in a district.
Alexander William Roney
Troy should not be lumped into a district with Macomb county. Troy has a community and relationship that reflect the county in which it resides, Oakland County, and does not match the community in the Macomb district
Jim Fenner
The district including Troy should be totally in Oakland County. The character of the citizens of Troy are closely related to other Oakland Co. cities and do not align in any way with those in Macomb County.
Roy Reaume
Troy always have been included in Oakland County. Troy has lots of shared interests with different cities in Oakland County, it needs to stay in Oakland County, thanks
Darcy
Troy is an important city in relation with Rochester, Rochester Hills, and other cities in Oakland County, it must stay where it belongs, thank you!
Rachel Cardiff
Troy belongs to Oakland County , thanks.
Adam C
We want Troy to stay with Royal Oak in Oakland County! We are a community of interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.

We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair. We do not want Troy to belong with Macomb County
Karen Bloom
I want my home to remain in Oakland county. I do not want re-districting!! I will not ever support this!!
Karen Cox
Having lived in Troy for almost 50 years, I feel strongly that Troy should remain a part of Oakland County. We are a community of interest with cities here and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area., having no common interests with communities in Macomb County.
Kathleen Petrucci
Troy needs to stay in Oakland County.
Deobrah Chandonnet
Do not support Troy begin redistricted to Macomb county. We want our tax dollars to benefit the Troy school district, our library and other services. What is the rationale? Expecting transparency.
Allison Emerson
We want Troy to stay in Oakland County with other like minded communities. I do not want to be part of Macomb County, Macomb schools or their governance within their communities. I don't want my taxes going to Macomb when I spend/associate 90% of my time/money in neighboring Oakland communites/facilities. Troy School District needs to stay in Oakland County. We moved to Troy because of the schools. No way should our Troy District Schools be included in Macomb county. This is for politics only and for no other reason. Quit messing with our kids education for political reasons!
Philip P Ciesliga
Lived in Troy off and on since 1958. Always been in Oakland County., actually three different homes in the same subdivision over the years. No need or logic in moving to Macomb Cty Who originated this scheme, and what was their rational???
Vivian Hackman
There is no way Troy should be redistricted to Macomb. I disagree 100%. This will be escalated to the highest levels.
Mark Antakli
My neighbors in Troy and Rochester have more in common with Bloomfield Twp, than Macomb County. My school district even crosses into Troy.
chloe Z
Troy should remain a part of Oakland County!!
stephanie martz
I have lived in troy my entire life and I strongly disagree with redistricting Troy from Oakland to Macomb County. Based on the current communities of interest Troy has more in common with Rochester, Rochester Hills and Bloomfield Hills. There doesn't appear to be a reason why the change is necessary or beneficial to the residents.
Xiuli Zhang
I have lived in Troy over 20 years and want Troy to stay in Oakland County along with Rochester and Rochester HIlls. These citys have common social and ecoomic objective with Oakland county than Macomb county . I really didn't see a good reason to move those cities to Macomb County and strong oppose this redistricting!
Dana Wingblad
I strongly feel that Troy should remain a part of Oakland County. I made a conscious decision to purchase a house and send my kids to school here in Troy in part because the city was part of Oakland County.
s m hodorek
troy should be kept in Oakland County. no-brainer...
LeAnne Rumptz
I want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of similiar Interest and I moved to Troy and Oakland county for the school. I left Sterling heights and macomb county.
Ron and Sharon Roe
We want Troy to remain in Oakland County. All of our activities are with Troy, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Clawson and Royal Oak. We have very little in common with Macomb County. There is no logical reason to lump Troy in with cities and areas in Macomb county.
Jason Waltz
I disagree with this mapping. Troy has nothing in common with farther east communities of Macomb county. This is nothing ploy to pull tax revenue out of Oakland county and dilute the tax revenues available to Troy.
Kara Waltz
I strongly disagree with the redistricting of Troy from Oakland County to Macomb County. I live in the corner of Troy that is Troy on one side of the street, Rochester Hills on the other side of the street, and Bloomfield Hills down the road a half mile. The students in my neighborhood attend Avondale Schools, not Troy, so they are redistricted in that sense now. Moving Troy to Macomb County does not make sense as we have more in common with the communities that surround us.
Ray
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.
Victor Bovey
Troy should not be lumped in with communities in Macomb County. Keep us with other Oakland County communities. Rope us in with Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills & Twsp., Rochester, Rochester Hills.
David M Hackman
Troy should stay with Rochester, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield in Oakland County
Josephine George
I strongly disagree with redistricting Troy, Rochester, and Rochester Hills into the Macomb County district. They should stay in Oakland County where they belong. We are strongly connected to Bloomfield Hills, and doing such could impact our congressional vote. Please do the right thing and leave well enough alone!
Helmut Gruber
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair
Josephine George
I strongly disagree with placing Rochester Hills in Macomb County. It should remain in Oakland County where it belongs! Troy, Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield Hills are very interconnected, and should be represented together. Moving Troy, Rochester, and Rochester Hills to the Macomb County District could change our congressional vote.
Wong
Keep Troy and Rochester Hills in Oakland County
Virginia Fakhouri
We dislike Troy being added to Macomb County District 6. Most of our activities, services and interests occur in Birmingham Bloomfield district. We should be part of District 3. We really have no common interests with the communities currently in Macomb County. Thank you, Virginia Fakhouri
Vivian Zoma
Our political voices will be lost if we are lumped in with Macomb County.
Theresa Dudzinski
Totally Dislike! Keep Troy in Oakland County! We have lived here for over 40 years!!
Rajeev Verma
I strongly disagree with placing Troy in Macomb county. It should stay in Oakland County!!!! we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! Theresa Dudzinski
Troy has always been part of Oakland County. We have lived here for over 40 years and we demand that Troy stay in Oakland County.
Xin Jin
Troy should stay in Oakland County! Strongly disagree with moving Troy to Macomb county. Stop calculating politics and do some real good thing!!!
James Carline
I disagree with lumping in Rochester Hills with Macomb County. While I respectively acknowledge their values they differ significantly from mine and do not reflect my core beliefs. Please put the Rochester Hills voting district back in Oakland County where it belongs.
Jeff L.
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.
Patrick M. McQueen
My neighbors, in Troy, should not be re-districted into a predominately Macomb County area. We are one community, that strongly identify with Oakland County.
Bev Yee
Rochester Hills should stay in Oakland County!
Kiran Venisetty
Strongly disagree merging Troy into Macomb county. Troy belongs to Oakland county. We have lived in Troy and Rochester hills for past 10 years and they have common objectives.
David V Barbieri
We want Troy to stay with Bloomfield and Rochester within Oakland County. We have much more in common within the Oakland County area than Macomb County.
Susan M Bowyer
Districts should stay with in the county lines. Mixing cities that are fairly well 50/50 in the political party make up with cities in a different county that are heavily one sided, is NOT what this initiative was about.
Russell & Kathleen Hug
Troy should not be lumped with Macomb County. We are very different in culture and should be kept with Oakland County. Putting us in District 6 will dilute our vote and disenfranchise voters in our community.
Susan Jones
Keep Troy in Oakland County with Rochester and Rochester Hills. This is ridiculous to change it to Macomb.
Cathy Guo
Please keep Troy with Oakland County
Nancy Malak
Troy should stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County. This is a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area.
Cathy Guo
Madison Heights should be included with Oakland county
Ben Shaw
Keep Troy, Birmingham and Rochester in Oakland County! Macomb County is highly partisan and does not reflect the voting diversity of our three Oakland County communities.
Saif Dawood
We don't like the Idea of a merger. we are fine with staying with Oakland county. Nothing against Macomb county, we moved to Troy for better education and safety. lets not go and change that now.
Zhenguo Zhu
I like Troy to stay in Oakland county along with Rochester and Rochester Hills.
Mary Stockdale
Troy belongs in Oakland county with Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield Hills. I want my votes to count in the county I live.
Kathleen Lalla
Troy should NOT be included in a Macomb County group. Troy and Rochester Hills should be in the same district, along with any other Oakland County communities.
Yili
I have lived in Troy over 20 years and want Troy to stay in Oakland County along with Rochester and Rochester Hills. These cities have common social and economic objectives with Oakland County than Macomb County. I really didn't see a good reason to move those cities to Macomb County.
Sherry Fu
Keep Troy in Oakland County! I was Troy resident.
Cynthia Merritt
Troy needs to stay in Oakland county. We have nothing in common with Macomb county.
Michele Conner
Please keep Troy, Rochester and Rochester Hills a part of Oakland County. I live in Birmingham on the border of Troy, just one street over and it changes to Troy. Troy is nothing like Macomb County.
Weihan Cao
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.
Christopher Bluhm
Troy, at least in terms of east/west should not be lumped together with macomb. west of rochesterroad(where i live) is heavily invested in the Birmingham, Rochester, royal oak, clawson neighborhoods. We participate in arts beats and ets, neighborhood parks, we walk to burmingham, NOT macomb. Some children in troy even go to birmingham schools(again NOT macomb)

Kristen Rondeau
We want Troy to stay with similar communities in Oakland County. We vote for Oakland county seats and our services are connected. Being districted almost entirely with Macomb County cities does not best represent our needs!
Allexa P
Troy DOES NOT BELONG with Macomb County! We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair!
Aditi Bagchi

Krutika Parikh
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area.
Michael John Leser
We want Troy to stay with Rochester, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield, and Bloomfield Hills in Oakland County! We believe our values are closely aligned to those cities and feel that we have less in common with Macomb county, which stretches all to way to Lake St. Clair.
Sonny Levine
Troy needs to stay in the same district as other similar cities in Oakland County like Bloomfield, Rochester, and Rochester Hills. Troy has nothing in common with Lake St. Clair, St. Clair Shores
Sonny Levine
Troy does not belong with Macomb County. Troy needs to stay with Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County. We are a community of interest and we are deeply connected to all our services in the area. We have nothing in common with communities like Lake St. Clair
Chad Bengry
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield, Birmingham in Oakland County! We are like communities and similar views. I do not want to be part of Macomb County, Macomb schools or their governance within their communities. I don't want my taxes going to macomb when I spend/associate 90% of my time/money in neighboring Oakland communites/facilities. Growing up in Rochester and now living in Troy. We really have nothing in common with the communities towards the east touching out to Lake St. Clair.
Cheryl blunden
The present district lines have been drawn primarily for the purpose of retaining a majority of one party over the other. These lines are haphazard and cut right thru the middle of neighborhoods, skirting undesirable locations and cross county lines. our 11th district is one of the worst. I believe a good faith effort to simplify the lines while keeping district sizes equal will go a long way toward ensuring more fair elections and ultimate representation.
Paula Bratto
I don't feel the Troy and Rochester Hills should be grouped into Macomb County.
Sveta Desai
Keep Troy where it belongs, in Oakland County! I am not clear on this proposal and don't believe the decision accurately represents the voices of Troy residents....
Nicholas Yerkes
Troy School District needs to stay in Oakland county with rochester and bloomfield. I moved to this Neighborhood for the excellent schools, There is no need to redistrict into Macomb County as the school district has been in Oakland County for years and years. Strongly OPPOSED to this redistricting.
Marjorie Gearty
I want Troy to stay with Rochester, Rochester Hills and Bloomfield in Oakland County
Nicole Bengry
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair. We have different needs and different values.
Nicole Bengry
We want Troy to remain in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We purchased our home specifically in Oakland County and paid a premium over similar houses in Macomb County. We strongly oppose this potential change.
Suzanne Trella-Gillespie
I oppose the redistricting. Troy should remain as part of Oakland County districting, as it is not located in Macomb County and has nothing in common with Macomb County. Macomb County representatives do not represent me and my community.
Marilyn K. Babich
Troy belongs with other Oakland County cities. We have chosen to live in and participate in Oakland County. To lump us in with Macomb County is pure gerrymandering.
David Parton
Troy belongs in Oakland County where it’s been for years.keep it there
Karen North
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County
Nancy Jones
Troy should stay as part of Oakland County
Barbara Fowler
Troy is part of Oakland County and needs to stay that way. We are not connected to Macomb County and our interests are more like Rochester and Rochester Hills.
David Parton
Troy needs to stay in Oakland County where it’s been for years.
Xin Ouyang
How badly this is! We really want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. Why did you make this kind of bad proposal to change it to Macomb?
William Hudak
Oppose the redistricting change. Troy needs to remain in Oakland County where community interests with Birmingham and West Bloomfield are more parallel.
Linda Almeranti
Troy belongs in Oakland County, we have nothing in common with Macomb County. Their representatives do not represent me or our community.
Rakesh Shah
Troy needs to stay with Oakland county. It is more closely aligned with Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills.

We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb County reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.
Marybeth Zoller
I am strongly opposed to having Troy be moved into Macomb County. We choose to live in Troy because it is a part of Oakland County. Troy is closely connected with Rochester/Rochester Hills/Birmingham and Bloomfield and shares many similarities with these communities. We spend our time in these communities and and share the same values with these communities. Troy does not belong in Macomb County.
Yumin Sheng
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair. Thank you!
Atasi Bagchi
All of Novi should be kept together. Separating current Pct 14 from the rest of the city segregates the AAPI population in that area from other communities with similar interests.
nancy Jones geik
It makes no sense to lump Troy with Macomb County. We should remain with Oakland County-Rochester, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills.
nancy Jones geik
It makes no sense to lump Troy with Macomb County. We should remain with Oakland County-Rochester, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills.
David Christie
Troy belongs in Oakland County, we have no affiliation with Macomb County which stretches all the way to Lake St. Clair
Robert E Lauer
Rochester Hills, Troy, and Rochester need to stay with Oakland County. These areas are distinct from Macomb County. Take Macomb County north if you need to add population to that district.
Amal William
We need to stay connected with Rochester, Rochester Hills, and West Bloomfield and being in Oakland County not any other County, thanks
John W Loose
Please keep Troy with Oakland County. Troy belongs with Macomb Country and we pay taxes to Oakland County. Please do NOT redistrict us with Macomb County.
Sita Nath
Troy should definitely stay in Oakland County and not be redistricted to Macomb county. We pay Oakland county taxes and need to be represented by Oakland county representatives who hear and voice our concerns. Keep Troy in Oakland County!
Kathleen Molesa
Troy should not be in a Macomb County District. It needs to stay in Oakland County.
richard young
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.
Lynne Piraino
Troy does not belong lumped in with Macomb County. The reps that come out of MC do not represent me.
Rita Cartier
We should not be in a Macomb County District. They do not represent my views. We pay Oakland County taxes and should be represented by them.
Donald Hentschel
Troy has so many connections to adjoining cities in Oakland County that it would feel very disjointed to be placed in Macomb.
Ashley Lagrou
Troy needs to stay in Oakland County. There is no reason to change to Macomb
Jane Livermore
Troy should absolutely be considered part of Oakland County. Troy should be included in District 3!
Jocil Rogus
Troy should remain with Oakland County. There are too many differences of opinions with Macomb.
Rochelle Solomon
Troy should definitely be included as part of Oakland County. It makes no sense to include Troy as part of Macomb County. Please reconsider putting Troy in District 3.
Diana L. Martin
Troy does not belong in Macomb County. It is an Oakland County city and has relationships with Rochester, Rochester Hills, Birmingham and Bloomfield, among others. We have no connection with Macomb County. Our representatives should be the ones that service Oakland County and share our concerns for what is happening there.
Donna Taylor
Troy should remain with Rochester Hills, it is an Oakland county city. Why are politician always trying to control the vote. It should remain where it is currently and not be lumped in with any city in Macomb County.
Spencer Gold
It makes much more sense to put Troy & Rochester Hills in the Oakland county district instead of Macomb county. I grew up further west in what is currently district 3, and feel a connection to those communities as tied together with my own, much more than Macomb communities like Utica & Sterling Heights. Putting the Oakland county communities together would make for more accurate representation for more people.
Spencer Gold
Similarly, Madison Heights should be included with Oakland county. They also have more representation, connections, and interactions with the cities in district 3 than they do with Detroit.
Spencer Gold
Warren should be in a district with Macomb county. They are much closer in representation and connections to Sterling Heights than they are with Detroit.
Mary Johnson
Keep Troy in Oakland County!
Mary Sue Livingston
We dislike having Troy be a part of District 6 in Macomb County. We chose and have lived in our Troy home for 44 years in the area which is definitely more related to Birmingham than to Troy. Our son attended Pembroke Elementary School, Derby Middle School, and Seaholm High School, all of which are Birmingham public schools. He still coaches sports in Birmingham, as he has for years; and I taught in Birmingham’s public middle schools for a portion of my teaching career. My grandsons, who live in Troy, also attended Birmingham’s public schools.

I disagree with grouping Troy with Macomb County cities. This does not make any sense. As a Troy resident, Troy should remain with Rochester, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills, as these are the cities that my family primary associates with for parks, education, etc. Do not change this…it is 100% wrong…especially to do it in such a quiet way without involving Troy residents. DISAGREE!!!
Deborah Villneff
I want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair. Troy is not "east side".
Christopher Cummins
Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township combine to form a Community of Interest (known as the Rochester Area). They should be kept whole and completely intact in a Congressional District, and that District should include many other northern Oakland County communities. We should not be in a Macomb County District.
Kristopher Nastovski
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair
Walter Bieber
Keep Troy in Oakland County. We moved to Troy to enjoy the area and surrounding cities like Rochester, Rochester Hills and Birmingham.
Kathy Bieber
We want Troy to remain with Rochester and Rochester Hills. We enjoy the same community services. We do not belong in Macomb County.
Kathy Bieber
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills. We are connected with community services in our area and should stay in Oakland County. We pay Oakland County taxes.
Ishwar Sethi
Troy is part of Oakland County and it should remain a part of the district in Oakland County. Troy has little in common with Macomb.
Kevin Smith
Why is Troy, Rochester and Rochester Hills being re-districted into Macomb County ? Is it to make Macomb more Democratic ? Would like to understand the rationale. People of Troy, Rochester etc are more like minded with Birmingham, Bloomfield and going west. They do not share interests with Sterling Heights and cities going east.
Naeem Ahmed
TROY should stay in Oakland county. One of the reason for us to move to Troy was that it is in Oakland county. Troy has more commonality with other cities in Oakland county compare to any other county
Naeem Ahmed
TROY should stay in Oakland county. One of the reason for us to move to Troy was that it is in Oakland county. Troy has more commonality with other cities in Oakland county compare to any other county
ANTHONY VITUCCI
TROY SHOULD REMAIN IN OAKLAND COUNTY. ABSOLUTELY DISAGREE MOVING TROY TO MACOMB COUNTY.
Susan Brodzinski
Why is Oakland County cut up into so many different pieces? How can the people of Oakland County get fair representation when we are chunked into 5 different districts? I understand that our population is too large to fit into a single district, but to chunk up the remainder into so many pieces deprives Oakland county residents of representation reflective of our interests.
Brendan Newell
Why is Troy integrated in with Macomb County?? We are part of Oakland and should remain so!!
Margaret Fris
Troy should absolutely STAY in Oakland County! Do not move this district to Macomb County. The heart of the city- which is it's schools, and commerce are much closer to Bham, and Bloomfield than anything in Macomb county. Do not mess with a good thing.
Elizabeth Head
I do not agree with moving Troy to Macomb County. We need to be with Rochester Hills, and Rochester in Oakland County. I did not move to Troy to be in Macomb County.
Michelle Piazza
Troy is not part of Macomb County. We pay Oakland County taxes and should be represented in Oakland County.
John Musich
Strongly opposed. Please keep Troy with Rochester, Birmingham and all of Oakland County. I've lived in Oakland County communities since 1976. Macomb County has not supported Covid vaccinations and masking to the degree necessary to protect the public welfare. Macomb's political leanings in general are the antitheses of all I believe in that is in the best interest of the student world, the old, the underprivileged, the medically under-served, diversity and inclusion, and the plight of our immigrants. Macomb and Oakland are literal worlds apart in values and attitudes and MUST be kept separated in this redistricting exercise. Thank you.
Julia Rodriguez
Troy should remain in Oakland County. I can't understand the logic is moving Troy which borders all the other Oakland cities.
Krystal Scobie
We want Troy to stay in Oakland county. We have NOTHING in common with Macomb. We have different belief systems and values. I am against this change.
Lita Regala
We would like Troy to stay with Oakland County. We have lived here for 35 years and we rarely go to Macomb County
Pooja Raman
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.
Nina Nowell
Troy should remain in Oakland County. My husband and I rarely go to Macomb County. Each of us have lived in Oakland County all our lives. Lumping us in with Macomb County voters doesn't make sense. This proposed change is absurd.
Harry Nowell
Troy should not be lumped in with Macomb County. I visit neighboring communities like Rochester - Clawson - Bloomfield. But rarely go to Macomb County. I VOTE and will remember this issue at the appropriate time.
Mary Matthews
It does not make sense to put Rochester Hills, Rochester and Troy with cities in Macomb. While it could be said that there are similarities as far as size of city, there is one critical difference. What concerns Macomb as far as government and representation doesn't not reflect Rochester Hills, Rochester and Troy. Rochester Hills, Rochester and Troy have more in common with Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Hills and Birmingham
Denise M Stout
Troy needs to stay with OAKLAND county -- Rochester, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills. Being attached to Macomb makes no sense. We grew up in Macomb and moved to Oakland County for a reason. We pay taxes in Oakland ....not Macomb. We will lose our voices if this version is accepted. This is just not right.
Tysen Moore
I want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair. I look forward to the next elections to vote out those responsible.
Christine Musich
PLEASE include Troy in Oakland County! I never go to Macomb County and spend my time and $$ in Oakland County, where we are and should always be.
Anne Marine
I absolutely do not agree with Troy being placed in a district with Macomb county. Our city is much more aligned with cities in Oakland County like Bloomfield Hills and Rochester. We share with those communities similar ideals, goals, and expectations for our community. We do not share the same with Sterling Heights and Macomb County. I think the two counties vastly differing responses to Covid-19 serves as an excellent example.
Amita Bishnoi
Troy should NOT be with Macomb county! Troy needs to be with like minded communities -Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills.
Ranette Norred
Keep Troy with other communities in oakland county. We have more in common with Rochester Hills, Birmingham, Rochester and Bloomfield. Lumping us with Macomb will not represent our unique communities, demographics or preferences. Highly uncomfortable with this decision.
RACHEL PREBLICH
Please keep Troy with in a district with Luther Oakland County cities. We share services with other cities in Oakland County and it would be beneficial for us to vote for representatives that can reflect those interests.
Marlene Davidson
Rochester Hills and Rochester should not be in the same district as Macomb County. We do not have enough in common. We belong with Auburn Hills, Berkley, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham and other like communities -NOT with communities like Sterling Height and Clinton Township. It doesn’t make sense.
Annalisa Esposito Bluhm
Keep Troy with other communities in oakland county. We have more in common with Rochester Hills, Birmingham, Rochester and Bloomfield. Lumping us with Macomb will not represent our unique communities, demographics or preferences. Highly uncomfortable with this decision.
Sasank Boppana
We want Troy to stay with Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb County and see this as a political reach.
Karuna Boppana
City of Troy should be with communities in Oakland county. It shouldn’t be combined with communities in Macomb county. The present map doesn’t represent or serve the communities values of Troy.
Donald R Plachta
I strongly oppose this redistricting. I do not want to share my Troy voting district with Sterling Hts.. We do not share the same values.

Oakland County residents need to stay in Oakland County. This makes no sense!
Todd Green
I want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County!

We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb County reaching as far as Lake St. Clair. Please KEEP Troy - Rochester - Rochester Hills - Bloomfield in Oakland County....... These City's belong in Oakland County!!!

We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.
Yi Cheng Feng
I have lived in Troy over 20 years and want Troy to stay in Oakland County along with Rochester and Rochester Hills. These cities have common social and economic objectives with Oakland County than Macomb County. I really didn't see a good reason to move those cities to Macomb County.
Zhaohua Lian
Strong objection to have Troy leave Oakland county.
XIKUI GONG
Troy should stay with Oakland county.
Laura Matthews
Troy should remain in Oakland County. Our mission, values and shared values that are part of our Troy, Rochester and Oakland County identity. Thank you.
Julia L Galliker
I absolutely do not understand why Troy and Rochester are grouped together with Macomb County. The population characteristics of Rochester and Troy have much more in common with other second ring suburbs like Bloomfield Township/West Bloomfield. Both Troy and Rochester are integral business and social hubs in Oakland County.
Ajit Shah
Not sure why we need to change what is working fine so far. Troy and Rochester Hills should be moved from District 6 (Macomb County) to District 3 (Oakland County) where it belongs as there are more similarities between with District 3. We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area.
Nalla Senthilnathan
Troy should remain in Oakland County.
John Woodward
I don't see any good reason to include Rochester, Rochester Hills into a district with Macomb County when there are parts of Macomb County not in that District
Jun Ying Zhou
My family want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as  Lake St. Clair
Prashanth Balusu
Oakland county is an automation hub. Splitting it between Macomb and Wayne counties would be disastrous economically and socially and it should not happen.
Matthew Michael Sackrison
Please, keep Troy with Oakland County. We see our association with Rochester, Rochester HIlls, Bloomfield, and other Oakland County cities/townships/etc as VITALLY IMPROTANT. We do not share values with Macomb County. We are an Oakland County city and our current representation/services/priorities reflect that.
Aaron Martinez
The current map fails to consider the communities of interest within Oakland County. It does not make sense to have the Novi area (proposed District 3) extend into Wayne County while separating Novi from the surrounding areas in our own county. South Lyon, Lyon Township, and New Hudson should all be in a district which is predominantly made up of Oakland County communities, which all have shared resources, schools, histories, and infrastructure. For example, the City of Novi has 4 school districts within its boundaries: Novi, Walled Lake, South Lyon, and Northville. These communities have strong ties to one another and within the Oakland County community. They should be kept together as much as possible. Placing Novi with the city of Troy will also ensure that the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community is able to be properly represented. These two areas make up one of the largest concentration of AAPI residents anywhere in the United States. They deserve to be heard in this process.
Xiuwei Liu
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as  Lake St. Clair.

We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair
Michelle A Haight
Troy belongs in Oakland County, not lumped with Macomb. This is not a reflection of our community. I am a resident of Troy and Troy is in OAKLAND COUNTY. Districting MUST reflect that. Troy doesn't belong with Macomb County. It's in OAKLAND COUNTY!
Bridget Schipper
more equitable representation in Washington is needed for the diverse Oakland County communities
Jayshree Paal
City of Troy needs to stay as part of the Oakland county since Troy community shares common social and economical goals with the Oakland county community than Macomb county community.
Bhupen Paal
We prefer to keep Troy as part of the Oakland county. Community in the city of Troy has more in common social and economical preferences with the community in rest of the Oakland county than Macomb county.
Suresh Vemuri
I oppose. Troy should remain part of Oakland County. I lived in Troy for over 35 years. I work, shop, socialize, and worship in cities such as Birmingham, Bloomfiled Hills, Royal Oak, Pontiac, Rochester, and Rochester Hills. We are communities with similar interests.
Raj Rajaraman
Troy should stay in Oakland county.
Carole
Rochester, Rochester Hills and Troy should not be grouped in with Macomb County. The above three communities function as one community of Oakland County and have little in common with Communities in Macomb!
Maureen Miller
We want RH to stay with Troy, Bloomfield and Clarkston inOakland County. We are a community of interest with cities there and our deeply connected to all of our services thin the area. We have nothing in common with the cities touching Lake St Clair.
Katherine L Greig
Troy does not belong with Macomb County. If you look at the demographics especially. Troy, Rochester Hills and Rochester should not be combined with Macomb County. We have very little in common with the cities that border Lake St. Clair, and Troy has different interests than those in Macomb County. This is a bad idea. Please try again.
Robert Storc
Keep Rochester Hills in Oakland County
Carrie Leser
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair.
elizabeth s walter
keep Troy in Oakland County
Amanda Jane Steen
Rochester Hills and Macomb should be kept separate. I have lived in both areas and they are very different. Rochester Hills has much more similarity to Clarkston. Keep the county lines!
FLOYD BURT PATRICK
No way, Jamestown is not a community of interest with Kent County.
FLOYD PATRICK
This map needs some adjustments. This commission cannot be afraid to re-examine West Michigan. Ottawa County is split far too much here. That is not an honest assessment of the county and details the commissions lack of knowledge pertaining to this area of the map. Kent County being whole makes sense but it shouldn't bleed into Ottawa County either. The bordering townships such as jamestown, Georgetown, tallmadge, chester, and wright, are not only part of Ottawa County but that is how they associate as well. Connecting Lake Michigan in Ottawa County with Saginaw Bay in Aernac County isn't right. Muskegon should also fit into this map instead of being placed with Midland County. It's frustrating to see the commission continue to use this as a starting map when so much is not reflective of the communities in West Michigan.
Sreedwaraka Prasad Boppana
Troy and Rochester Hills should be moved from District 6 (Macomb) to District 3 (Oakland). Oakland county should be kept as one.
Michelle Randall
Southfield needs to move from District 3 from District 2
Michelle Randall
Warren should be kept with Macomb county and emphasize that Troy should be kept with Oakland County
Yashodhara Gupta
We want to stay Troy with Rochester hills, Bloomfield hills in OAKLAND county! We are a community of interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county.
Judy Robinson
Troy and Rochester Hills should be moved from District 6 (Macomb) to District 3 (Oakland). Oakland County should be kept whole.
Judy Robinson
Warren should be part of Macomb (District 6) and not District 1 (Detroit). Warren and Detroit are dissimilar communities.
Judy Robinson
Madison Heights should be moved from District 1 (Detroit) to District 3 (Oakland County). These are dissimilar communities with little in common.
Wanda Anderson
Here again, this District is not drawn fairly. Detroit is not connected with the Downriver communities of Allen Park and Taylor. There is no shared nor common interest between the cities. There can be no fair and equal representation the way the map is currently drawn for Detroit Wayne County. Having representation for Royal Oak, Ferndale Oakland County and mixing Hamtramck, Detroit Wayne County is an unfair map. Oakland County Royal Oak, Ferndale should remain together and the Wayne County Detroit and Hamtramck should tie together with their shared interest. I know this has been a tiring process but please review before making final map. Fairness is always appreciated.
Roy Mason
Keep the Rochester and Troy areas in Oakland County! Makes no sense to split up a significant area of District 3 and "conveniently" move it to District 6.
Grace Gao
Troy does not belong with Macomb County.
Rhonda Rhodes-Grant
Why are Troy and Rochester Hills included in district #6 with Macomb County? Oakland County communities should be kept together and not split between Macomb and Wayne Counties.
jean mary goddard
Rochester Hills and troy should be moved from district 6 to district 3. We need a congression district that is all in Oakland county and not split between Oakland and Macomb. Rochester Hills ant Troy are similar and have a lot of economic interests in common.
Rhonda Rhodes-Grant
Madison Heights should be in district #3, with other communities in Oakland County.
Dan Pingree
Lumping Troy in with Macomb county makes no sense. We should be part of Oakland county.
Rhonda Rhodes-Grant
Communities in Macomb County, such as Warren, should stay in the Macomb County district #6.
LAKSHMI P KAZA
I am temporarily living in Troy and my new home is under construction in Troy. I do not see any thing in common with Macomb county. Troy has a lot in common with Rochester, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Birmingham. I want troy to be included in oakland county districts.
Sanford I Hansell
Macomb towns should remain in same district. They are economically combined and these working class communities belong together
Catherine Mason
Rochester Hills should NOT be in a district with Macomb County, RH should stay with Troy, Bloomfield, and Clarkston in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair.

Lisa Ross
Troy and Rochester Hills should be moved from District 6 to District 3. They are very important to Oakland County and their voters shouldn't be split off from Oakland County representatives.
Lisa Ross
Madison Heights belongs in District 3 Oakland County. Madison Heights and Detroit deserve to be represented fully and I think MH would not get as much representation because Detroit is a much larger city and has more needs.
Lisa Ross
Warren is in Macomb County and should be included with District 6. Macomb communities should stay in a Macomb Country district.
Padma Sanam
Troy and Rochester Hills belong to Oakland Community only and not Macomb. We have much greater connection to Oakland county cities like Novi and Farmington Hills. Pls reconsider this area to make it more logical.
Sharon MacDonell
Why on earth would Troy and Rochester be included in Macomb County? We belong in Oakland County. These feels like an attempt to dilute the vote of a city's people who have been changing dramatically in the past ten years.
Melanie Woodrich
This map makes no sense for the southeastern Oakland County area. Troy belongs with neighboring Oakland County cities, not Macomb County cities. We have a much greater connection to our neighbors in Oakland County than we do with those in Macomb County. Troy should not be lumped with places like Sterling Heights, St. Clair Shores, Eastpointe, and Clinton Twp. Neither should Rochester or Rochester Hills. Please reconsider this area to make it more logical.
Kristin Pingree
Troy does not belong with Sterling Heights and Saint Clair Shores. It is a COI with Bloomfield and Birmingham. In fact, between Adams Road and Coolidge Hwy, many Troy children attend school in Bloomfield and Birmingham School Districts. Keep Troy in with other Oakland County suburbs!
Kathleen S Martin
Troy should be in a district with SE Oakland County. The entire infrastructure is with Oakland County.
MARCIA BLACKSON
Keep all of Midland County together including the City of Midland with its west and north boundary counties. You have supposedly spent the last two weeks reading through all the reasons expressed by the citizens therefore hearing "all" the very good reasons to keep Midland County intact with our northwest neighbors. Not sure why we have to say it over and over again and then not see any corrective actions implemented.
Alison Hendry
As someone who has lived in both Troy and Sterling Heights, I have to object to putting Troy in a district with Sterling Heights and Macomb County. Troy is far more connected to the other communities in Oakland County, such as Rochester and Birmingham, than it is connected to Sterling Heights. One major example: our schools are a major component of and strength in our community. By districting Troy with Sterling Heights and other communities, I fear that our schools will not be a focus of our legislator, as the legislator will be representing a majority of communities in the Macomb County ISD, as opposed to Oakland Schools. As another example: If you go to the Troy Chamber of Commerce website and search for the businesses who are members, you will see members from the adjoining communities in Oakland County (again, Birmingham, Rochester), but very few businesses from Macomb County. By splitting Troy into another district, you will be disempowering residents. I implore you to reconsider.
Pia Gandrothu
Troy needs to stay in Oakland county.
Kevin Grtimm
The current District 6 is a strange amalgam of what might be called "communities of disinterest." We share little with communities such as Fraser, Clinton Township, and Eastpointe. Where I live in Troy is part of a community of interest that includes, for example, Royal Oak, Birmingham, Ferndale, Berkley, Bloomfield Hills, Beverly Hills. Carving Troy away from most of its Oakland County neighbors simply makes no sense. I strongly disapprove of this map.
Debjani Nayak
Troy needs to stay with its Oakland County neighbors. We have lived in Troy for 22 years. Very proud of our diverse community. Please do not lump us with Macomb County cities.
Michelle Sell
Troy should not be with Macomb County. We have much more in common with Oakland County and we should be together along with Rochester and Bloomfield.
Judith Schartenberg Goodman
Oakland County should be kept together and not split between Macomb and Wayne Counties.
Judith Schartenberg Goodman
Madison Heights and Detroit have little in common.
Judith Schartenberg Goodman
Macomb communities should stay in a Macomb County district.
Brittany Pinnock
Warren needs to be with other Macomb County communities. Warren and Sterling Heights are sister cities and share economic ties. Remove Troy and Rochester from District 6. Add Warren to the other Macomb County communities in District 6.
jai p mistry
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! Troy is an important part of OAKLAND county, not Macomb! This makes no sense.
Brittany Pinnock
Troy and Rochester need to be with Oakland County. Troy has a growing AAPI population similar to Novi. Troy shares County government, resources, services, shopping, entertainment and recreational venues with other Oakland County communities. Troy is a community of interest with Oakland County communities. Keep Troy and Rochester with Oakland County.
Yatindra Koneru
We want Bloomfield, Rochester, Rochester Hills and Troy to stay in Oakland County. We are community of interest with these cities and nothing in common with communities in Macomb County
Yang Bi
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, Bloomfield and Royal Oak in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair, and we never have reason to cross the county border. We and our friends and co-workers live and work along the Woodward Corridor and have more in common with Wayne County than with Macomb.
Fabrice Smieliauskas
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, Bloomfield and Royal Oak in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. Leslie Diebol
We want Troy to stay with Rochester Hills, Rochester and Bloomfield Hills in Oakland County! We are communities with similar interests and have nothing in common with communities near Lake St. Clair. Troy does not belong with Macomb County.
Scott Govitz
We are faced with many unique challenges in Gladwin County and have suffered a disastrous setback with the recent floods that impacted much of both Gladwin and Midland County. We have worked tirelessly with many entities throughout all of Midland County on efforts aimed at recovery, but also on ways to mitigate future disasters. Thank you for your efforts; however carving the communities apart without recognition of the economic impact of separating the City of Midland from these regional efforts will hurt Gladwin County and our watershed and economic work long term.
Bonnie VanKeersbilck
I live in Royal Oak but I lived and worked for many years in southern Macomb County. Hazel Park and Madison Heights should be part of District 3 as part of southern Oakland County. I shop and eat in these cities and have friends and family there. Oakland county is big but I would like to add that southern Oakland county communities are very connected to one another. Don't split us up. And I'm sorry to say this, but pulling Warren out of Macomb County would be a shocking gerrymander like move. It also would hurt the city because it would be overshadowed by Detroit. Warren has a special connection with Sterling Heights and they both should be with the rest of Macomb County.
Scott Snyder
I am opposed to the redistricting of Macomb County to include Troy. Troy is better suited with similar communities such as Rochester, Bloomfield, and Birmingham.
Karen Lynne Bolsen
Thank you for placing Farmington and Farmington Hills together. Our adjoining communities in Oakland County make great sense. Thank you. But, please keep Oakland County together, i.e. Rochester Hills, Rochester, Troy, Royal Oak, Ferndale.
Denise Jacob
Communities in Oakland County share a great deal of economic ties, schools of choice, participation in Oakland Community College, and ethnic and religious diversity. Oakland communities should all stay in an Oakland County district.
AJG
Troy and Rochester/Rochester Hills should be grouped with their neighbor cities to the west and south in Oakland County. Given that they have much more in common with those communities and schools/sports/etc. for these communities are focused in Oakland County, it makes little sense to district them with Macomb.
Marie Colombo
I appreciate the hard work of the Redistricting Commission, but I think the proposed division of Oakland County is wrong. As a Royal Oak resident, I have significant connections with the citizens and services of cities like Troy and Rochester Hills. The interests of the Macomb eastern (lake area) and northern (farm area) have little in common with places like Troy and Rochester Hills. Thank you.
Tejaskumar Patel
I oppose. Troy should be part of Oakland county with Rochester and Bloomfield hills.
Pankaj Kathiriya
I oppose that Troy being lumped into Macomb County. I want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County
Kathleen Metevier-Rizza
Oakland County communities should be kept together! We have the same interests and do not share any services with other counties.
Yogiraj Sangamreddy
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as Lake St. Clair.

I dislike this idea
Seth Rosen
As a proud Michigander, I strongly believe Macomb communities should stay in a Macomb County district. Warren and Sterling Heights are very similar cities with strong economic ties. Mound and Van Dyke are the main vein of American industry and belong together.
Diane Luscombe
Central Oakland County includes Pontiac and Waterford and should be kept whole.
Edward James Hannum
I am a resident of Troy and Oakland County. I do not want to be represented legislators and officials outside my county. Do not move Troy into Macomb County. We have nothing in common with them.
Anne Sackrison
I am vehemently opposed to Troy being lumped into Macomb County. Troy needs to stay with Rochester, Rochester Hills, Birmingham, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the Macomb County communities.
Diane Luscombe
Troy and Rochester Hills should be moved from District 6 (Macomb County) to District 3 (Oakland County). Their socio economically similar and all three cities share Schools of Choice students. It makes sense when looking through the eyes of a school age parent. Even the sports programs have us competing with each other and Bham and Bloomfield Hills.
Karen Hunt
I live in Troy, in Oakland County. My kids go to the Troy School District, and later they will go to Oakland Community College, where they will in resident tuition. If they were to go Macomb Community College, they would pay out of resident tuition. This is just an example to show that we are connected to other Oakland County cities. We are not connected with Macomb County, and I don't want to be connected to them in a district when we are in different counties.
Diane Luscombe
Madison Hgts should be moved to Oakland County. They are neighbors to Royal Oak and use R.O. Schools as well as Troy school. Residents spend a lot of time in R.O and Troy on the John R Corridor.
Diane Luscombe
Macomb communities should stay in a Macomb County district. Warren and Sterling Heights are sister cities that share economic ties. The Mound-Van Dyke manufacturing corridor is the economic lifeblood of these communities. Everyone know these are sister cities and should remain as such.
Emily Morgan
we want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair
lori A Boyce
Warren is the heart of Macomb County and is a community of interest along with Sterling Heights Accordingly, both should be in district 6.
Nessa Feller
I live in Birmingham and my children even go to school with kids from Troy. We go to Troy for shopping, socializing and find it very similar to Birmingham in many ways. The fact that they are separated in different districts on this map doesn't make sense. They are similar communities right next to each other - it doesn't make sense to split them in different districts.
Nessa Feller
As a resident of Ann Arbor for over 20 years, I find that it isn't right to combine it with Ypsilanti -> they are two entirely different types of communities and should be split up. It is common knowledge all over the state / mid-west that Ann Arbor has a unique perspective in how they view the community / role of government.
Laurie Evans
Thank you for all of your work; however, I am very concerned to see Troy being put into a district with Macomb County jurisdictions. Please keep Troy whole and completely with Oakland County. Troy does not share a community of interest with Macomb County cities. We are connected with Oakland County Government, services, recreation, and entertainment venues. We have many more commonalities with communities to our South or West and very little in common with jurisdictions to the East. I do not understand or agree with any rationale that moves Troy away from Oakland County or away from the communities in which we most often conduct business. The idea behind the Redistricting Committee was to fix issues such as communities being districted with other communities which do not share interests. This map seems to simply move the problem from one set of dissimilar cities to another set. Please keep Troy with Oakland County and with our actual communities of interest and look again to ensure that districts meet the criteria that the Committee is chartered to address.
Garima Kumar
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair.
Lauren Lisi
Troy and Rochester Hills should be moved from their current District to District 3 in Oakland County. They have much more in common with the inner ring suburbs of Oakland County than they do with Macomb County.
Lauren Lisi
I used to work at Macomb Community College, South Campus. Macomb communities should stay in a Macomb County district. This means that Warren should be in the same district as it's sister city, Sterling Heights. Just as the inner ring suburbs of Oakland County should be kept together, the inner ring suburbs of Macomb County should be kept together as well. The communities that line Mound, Van Dyke, Groesbeck and Gratiot use those thoroughfares to visit the same cities, neighborhoods and businesses. Do not make Warren an orphan city.
Lauren Lisi
I live in Huntington Woods. Southfield needs to be moved down into District 2 because of the Voting Rights Act. With the exception of Southfield, keep the inner ring suburbs of Detroit together, this includes adding Hazel Park and Madison Heights into District 3 rather than including them with Detroit. Keep the inner ring suburbs along both sides of the Woodward Corridor of Oakland County together. We have our own vibe. The cities in the western part of this district, Northville and Novi, have nothing in common with the eastern part of this district. We have much more in common with Madison Heights and Hazel Park. You should also add Troy and Rochester Hills into this District. They belong with Oakland County, not Macomb County.
John Owens
Troy, Rochester and Rochester Hills should be included in District 3. Absolutely no relevance with cities stretching out to Lake St. Clair, Be certain Ferndale and Hazel Park are fully included in District 3.
Paul Rizza
Troy does not belong in an district for Macomb County! It is part of Oakland County and the map should be divided up according to county lines. There should be no little pieces of 1 county broken off and added to a different county!
William Asher
Despite Rochester Hills, Troy, and Madison Heights proximity to Macomb County, those communities have more in common with their neighboring Oakland County communities, and should be moved from District 6 to District 3. This change would allow Warren to be grouped with its neighbors in Macomb county. I realize you would have to move some communities out of district 3 - perhaps Walled Lake, Wixom, Novi, Northville, Northville Twp., and Waterford Twp.
Srini Subramaniam
Troy must stay where it is.. we have much more synergies with Oakland County and Rochester Hills/Rochester. Please do not even think of changing it.
Renee Bradford
I live in Auburn Hills and my community should remain whole and not divided, especially into a Macomb County district. Please keep Oakland County cities with Oakland County district to ensure we get Representatives who can focus on the needs of our community.
Paul Rizza
I thought that this redistricting was going to fix gerrymandering by grouping together counties that bordered each other. Instead I see that Troy has been cut out of Oakland county and placed in Macomb County. It does NOT belong in Macomb County. Looking at the map state wide I still see appendiges attached to districts when districts should be solid blocks according to counties. Counties should not be divided up into different districts!
R. Maramraju
We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities in Macomb county reaching as far as  Lake St. Clair. Troy DOES NOT belong with Macomb County!
Marcie Paul
I’m a W. Bloomfield resident and we have several socioeconomic similarities with Troy and Rochester. These Oakland County cities should be in our District to preserve the economic ties that connect the majority of our county’s communities. Removing Troy and Rochester from District 6 would allow the addition of Warren to the rest of Macomb County (Dist. 6). Warren and Sterling Heights are sister cities that share economic ties. The Mound-Van Dyke manufacturing corridor is extremely important to these communities of interest.
Lea VanAmberg
Troy is in Oakland County, not Macomb. We are a community with interests aligning with neighboring Oakland County cities. We are connected to all of the services in Oakland County, not Macomb. Our children attend schools in Oakland County which are supported by Oakland County Intermediate School District, again, not Macomb.
Vee K
Troy belongs with other cities in Oakland County. We do not share any communities of interest with Macomb County. Our demographics are completely different. We do not work, shop, worship, etc. in Macomb County. We belong with Birmingham, Bloomfield, Clawson, Pontiac or Rochester.
Elizabeth Morris
Novi and Farmington Hills are sister communities with many economic and cultural ties and should be kept together. Troy and Rochester Hills are also similar communities and should be kept together. Pontiac and Waterford should remain together for the same reason. Finally, the cities of Novi, Troy and Rochester and very unified and should remain intact and whole in theses maps.
Jamie Kaniarz
This redistricting is the definition of gerrymandering. Troy has very little in common with the counties to the east. We are in Oakland County and want to remain with Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills, and Birmingham.
Anne Katherine Sweeney
I have lived in Troy for over 20 years, my husband and I moved to this community for is richly diverse culture, highly educated population and resources that are comparable to other communities in Oakland County. It is unfortunate that the idea arose to redistrict Troy with Macomb County. We have little in common with the majority of the county, especially the north and east portions that are rural. They do not support the same suburban values that the majority of Troy residents do. The voices of the Troy population will not be heard if the congressional lines are moved.
Brian Spillane
Troy belongs with other cities in Oakland County. We do not share any communities of interest with Macomb County. Our demographics are completely different. We do not work, shop, worship, etc. in Macomb County. We belong with Birmingham, Bloomfield, Clawson, Pontaic or Rochester.
Lori Ann Mizzi-Spillane
Troy does not belong lumped in with Macomb County. We are a diverse community and have very different demographics than Macomb County. We share no communities of interest. Myself and my neighbors do not work, worship, shop, seek entertainment, go to higher education, or even have family in Macomb. We are more aligned with Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Clawson, Pontiac, or even Rochester and Rochester Hills. Troy belongs with other cities in Oakland County.
John Rose
Just who is it doing this? Who thinks Troy should be in MACOMB COUNTY?? Certainly not those of us who live here! Why don't you people go out and ASK what WE, THE RESIDENTS want here?? I'm so damn tired of all this arbitrary nonsense "redistricting" committees come up with that tear Democratic votes away from us!! KNOCK IT OFF!!
Justine Galbraith
It's odd to group Troy with our neighbors to the east. Troy should be grouped with neighboring cities in Oakland county. As Oakland and Macomb counties are different, putting Troy with Macomb county cities would break up a community of interest. Please group Troy with like cities in Oakland County. Thank you for reading, and thank you for your work.
Shreya Balusu
This is absolutely ridiculous. Troy has nothing in common with with communities in Macomb country and this is a desperate attempt to silence democratic voices in Troy's richly diverse community. Troy should stay in Oakland county with cities like Rochester and Bloomfield hills who share similar interests and communities.
Lori Boyce
totally agree with VItal Anne. Troy is very much a part of our Oakland County community of interest and has nothing in common with the east side.....
Daniel Greig
Troy is a very diverse community, and to lump it in with Macomb County doesn't make sense. Troy and Sterling Heights are very different in terms of demographics, and many of the county services in Troy are shared with other cities in the same county (Oakland County.) It doesn't make sense to move Troy, Rochester Hills, and Rochester to align with Macomb County. Keep Macomb County in it's own district, and split Oakland County into several being sure to include Troy, Rochester and Rochester Hills with other Oakland county cities.
Margaret Chinoski
I am a 20 year resident of Troy MI, who moved here and have loved the community and diversity of Troy. Redistricting Troy with Macomb county would silence our voice and not address our needs. We share ideals, industry and community with the rest of Oakland county especially Rochester Hills, Rochester and Bloomfield Hills, not the area adjacent to Lake St. Clair.
Anne Merrill
Troy must stay with Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County. There is absolutely no reason to move Troy into Macomb County for voting purposes.
Vicki Bonus
I want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair. Troy belongs in OAKLAND County, thankyouverymuch.
Jennifer Richardson
This placement of Troy along with Rochester and Rochester Hills is very ill conceived. It places those of us who live in these communities in a voting block that have very different policy needs from each other. Our communities belong with those in the proposed District 3 because now needs are more aligned.
Vital Anne
I am a 20 year resident of Troy. Troy along with Rochester and Rochester Hills are grouped with about 10 cities in Macomb county in this district #6 map. We really have nothing in common with these communities sprawling east as far as Lake St. Clair. Troy is a high diverse urban city with close to 30% immigrant population, highly educated (over 60% of adults in Troy are college educated) with great emphasis on public education. In contrast many of the cities in the proposed district are rural, such as Washington Township for example, is 95% white and less than 1% immigrant population and only about 32% of adults are college educated. Also being part of Oakland county, we, Troy shares many resources with other Oakland county cities, our children play and compete with other schools in Oakland county. Not much connection with cities to the east of us in Macomb county. With such stark contrasts, we really feel that our voices will be drowned out by the heavily republican voices in these cities lumped with us. So please adjust the maps and include us in a district with cities of interest to the west and south of us. Thank you for listening.
Catherine A Macomber
I cannot support this map. This map puts northern Bay county into a norther district. Northern Bay county hugs the shore of Saginaw Bay. We have flooding, power outage, and road impediment concerns that are similar to the rest of the Watershed. Our community of interest aligns with the southern half of Bay county. Do not split the county in this manner.
John Shepherd
Troy and Rochester Hills should be grouped with their neighbors in Pontiac, Birmingham, Clawson, and Royal Oak. Troy and Rochester Hills share far more economic and government interests with communities in Oakland County than those of Macomb.
Lindsay Long
Troy needs to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair.”
Alec Peeples
Troy should not be lumped in with Macomb county. Very different areas and we want very different representation. We should be included with Rochester, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, etc. We do not have as much in common with communities in Macomb county as we do with those communities in Oakland. Very odd that Troy would be lumped in with Macomb county communities.
Susan Hayden
Troy needs to be with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair.
Mary Murphy
I attended meetings presented by the Independent commission from California. One of the repeated comments made by the presenters, one Democrat, one Republican, one Independent, was to keep local communities of interest together. Maps were redrawn many times to fit the needs of the communities not the politicians or parties. Oakland county needs to stay together. Ferndale needs to stay with south east Oakland county not in 3 districts. Dividing Ferndale makes this more difficult for all 3 counties not easier. Separating Troy into 2 districts is also more difficult. Keep South east Oakland county intact so communities can work together.
Amanda Haller
Troy should remain in Oakland County districting. Troy is much more aligned with Rochester and Birmingham. This is crazy! Do not align Troy with Macomb County - Troy is Oakland County - the end.
Ingrid Peeples
Troy should remain grouped with Oakland county and NOT grouped with Macomb.
Kelly R Dewald
It makes absolutely no sense to move Troy to Macomb County. We want Troy to stay with Rochester and Rochester Hills, and Bloomfield in Oakland County! We are a community of Interest with cities there and are deeply connected to all of our services in the area. We really have nothing in common with the communities touching Lake St. Clair.
John Hughes
I grew up in Troy, a community with much of its Office space, commercial and retail base located along the 16-mile corridor. The interests of Troy's economic engine are by necessity aligned with Oakland County, rather than Macomb County. Troy's inclusion in an Oakland County district would properly align the interests of its local and federal representation reduce the need for the Member of Congress to meet with two County commissioners. This map should be rejected in its current form.
Greg Jones
Troy belongs in Oakland County, not lumped with Macomb. This is not a reflection of our community.
John Hughes
The separation of Madison Heights and Hazel Park from Oakland County separates those communities' federal representation from their representative County governments. This will create a more complex relationship between these leadership elements and marginalize the interests of those communities at either level. Aligning the interests of those levels of representation is more effective. This map should be rejected.
Kelly Jones
I mistakenly hit the LIKE button instead of DISLIKE. This district of lumping Troy in with Macomb County makes NO SENSE! We share no demographic characteristics with Macomb. Troy should be districted in Oakland County. This is a grave mistake.
Chris Motzenbecker
What is this??? Why is Taylor included with Hazel Park? What do these two communities have in common? TYhe northern suburbs, Detroit and the downriver suburbs each deserve independent representation, not another snake-like district
Chris Motzenbecker
As someone who was born and raised in Troy, why the HECK is Troy lumped in with the east side? Troy has a lot more in common with the other Oakland County communities like Auburn Hills, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Birmingham, etc. Some of these groupings are extremely bizarre/confusing and seem to come from people who don't live, work or play in these areas regularly.
Chris Motzenbecker
Why are Madison Heights and Hazel Park not grouped with Ferndale? Our communities are very similar and have WAY more in common with Ferndale, Royal Oak, Oak Park, etc than they do with Detroit.
Harry M Philo
Troy should be in Oakland County. As a resident for more than 30 years, I know that we have nothing in common with Macomb County.
Carl L Hamann
The City of Midland needs to be whole with midland county. Communities are formed with common interests, likes, ideas, purpose. The counties of midland and Gladwin along with the City on Midland have a huge common purpose, the disaster of 2020!! These communities have been working together to rebuild. splitting them up would not be beneficial to that goal.
Andrey Duzyj
My name is Andrey Duzyj, I live in Warren and am a proud member of the Ukrainian American Community. Many in our community fled communist rule in Eastern Europe and are deeply committed to our Faith, Families, and Local Communities. Our community is centered in Warren, based at the Ukrainian Cultural Center and lives across Southeast Oakland County and the surrounding Macomb county cities of Sterling Heights and Roseville. We are asking that you keep our Warren and Ukrainian community together with Macomb county and areas along 696. I know you have a very difficult task, but these communities are important to us and it appears that you could very easily return Warren to Macomb and keep us whole. Thank you.
Sharon Baseman
Troy, Rochester and Rochester Hills should be kept with Oakland County. They have much more in common with Oakland than they do with Macomb. Warren and Centerline should be kept with Macomb County. Hazel Park and Madison Heights should also be kept with Oakland County.
Aaron Majorana
Unfortunately, this map looks like the very definition of gerrymandering. It makes absolutely no sense to cut out Midland from the rest of Midland county. Likewise, it makes no sense to cut out Saginaw and Bay City from the rest of their counties. There is little no similarity in culture or people between the three cities and it's hard to imagine any "community of interest" between them. However, there is a far greater community between Midland, Midland County, and Gladwin Counties because they were all heavily affected by the flooding that occurred in 2020. By dividing up Midland, you are dividing up a unified voice for flood recovery. Keep Midland together with Midland and Gladwin counties.
Sandra Riccardi
Southfield should be in District 2
Joseph Lunsford
Please do not put Midland in with Saginaw and Flint.
Joshua P. Cecil
I live in Oakland County and have worked in Troy for a long time. I have no idea why Troy would be in a district with St. Clair Shores. Also, I have family that live downriver, and it makes no sense to have Warren heading all the way to Taylor and Allen Park. We chose to live in Oakland County 12 years ago, and we all know that Oakland County is a community of interest. I know this commission can make a better map than this.
Julia L Galliker
Why would you separate Troy from the rest of Oakland County?
Matthew Hoeppner
I live in Clawson and this map puts me in a district with Wixom, Walled Lake and Northville Township instead of Troy, which is a literal stones throw from my house. I find that very odd to be grouped in with those locations and not Troy, Rochester and Madison Heights, which are right down the street. Having spent the last ten years in a ridiculously drawn district, I do not wish to trade one bad set up for another. Let's try and keep actual communities with common interests together.
Ashleigh Jennings
Troy should be drawn with other neighboring communities in Oakland County as a clear community of interest. Whether we are looking at recreation, commuting, shopping or entertainment, there is much more movement to and from Troy and other communities within Oakland County to our south and west. We share county government and some municipal services, and we deserve representation in Congress that will understand and be responsive to the needs of this whole, larger community.
Jennifer Majorana
Your proposed map will result in a major setback in our flood recovery and flood management efforts. Why are you cutting Sanford out of representation with Midland? The Commission appears to be ignoring the constitution which requires that they use ‘communities of interest’ to draw fair maps. Instead it appears that the Commission is trying to dilute the voices of the Midland community by adding them into larger urban centers with Flint and Saginaw. If you talk to anyone who lives in Midland, we share little in common with Saginaw and especially not with Flint!
Matthew Haupt
I appreciate the difficulty of getting these maps right, but Troy and Rochester should be included with other Oakland County cities. I understand drawing districts that overlap counties in some cases, but there is a stronger COI with cities west and south of Troy/Rochester than there are east. Bloomfield, Birmingham, Clawson, Berkley, Royal Oak are all cities that make much for sense from a COI perspective than Sterling Heights, Washington Twp, Utica, etc. Thank you for all your hard work on this!
Anthony Scannell
What Jeff Risdale said!
Jeremy Fisher
Warren is the largest city in Macomb and the third largest city in the state of Michigan. Putting us in a congressional district with Detroit is insulting. I would note that Warren past the VNP petition by a wide margin to avoid this type of packing and gerrymandering. Warren is the heart and sole of Macomb. It has the GM Tech Center which is the anchor of the automotive industry in Macomb. With factories all up and down the Mound Van Dyke Corridor, it is wrong to separate them from the tech center. Army Tacomb is in Warren. Their are several defense businesses in Sterling Heights that work closely with Army Tacomb. Employees in these two industries live in Warren and Sterling Heights. It would be wrong to break up these two communities. Furthermore, their is a natural migration that has been happening in Macomb for decades. People live and work in Warren and Sterling Heights, then retire in Clinton Township, Shelby and Macomb. This ties these communities together through family ties and friendships. Please do not tear our community apart. We deserve to be represented together!
Ratna Rao
Novi and Troy should be in the same congressional district. The Indian Americans belonging to these cities have countless areas of interest.
Allen Wolf
Troy and Rochester Hills share a community of interest with the rest of Oakland County. These communities are much more like Oakland County with a large percent of white collar workers versus blue-collar Macomb County.
Ratna Rao
Troy should be in Oakland County and in the same congressional district as Novi. These cities are communities of interest for the Indian American community and should remain in the same district.
Marian MAhoney
Troy and Rochester Hills belong in Oakland county - this is an awful mistake - these communities are COI togther !!!
Mary J Quehl
This is the worst representation of a map for the city of Midland. We would be seperated from Midland County, then put in with metropolatan areas such as Bay City, Saginaw and Flint. This is in direct conflict with our community of interest. My husband's cousins own over 1000 acres of land less than 5 miles north of me on the same road that i get on to to leave my neighborhood. We are a rural community and should not be separated from Midland County north of us as well as Isabella and Gratiot counties. We share nothing in common with Saginaw and Flint,, nor do they share anything in common with us. When I look at comments about people living in the larger surrounding metro cities like Bay City, Saginaw, and Flint but driving to Midland to work here, thus this makes us similar in community of interest, this is absolutely ridiculous. When I worked as a respiratory therapist for some of my career I did work in Bay City and Saginaw. However, I did not choose to live there because the larger metro cities did not fit my lifestyle and belief structures. That is why I drove there and did not live there. I mean no disrespect but in these regards, which is a part of community of interest, we have nothing in common with those metro cities. We have more in common with Midland County and the surrounding rural communities. I have stated previously that I know people that have suffered significant or total home loss and/or loss of their waterfront property due to the flood of 2020 that live in the city of Midland, Sanford, and Beaverton. This map will most likely prevent everyone from receiving the assistance to get things back by separating the representation. This map seems to be clearly in conflict with the guidelines set in place by the constitution in Michigan which the commissioners are supposed to go by. It clearly states that the commission shall abide by the following criteria in proposing and adopting each plan, in order of priority: (a) Districts shall be of equal population as mandated by the United States constitution, and shall comply with the voting rights act and other federal laws. (b) Districts shall be geographically contiguous. Island areas are considered to be contiguous by land to the county of which they are a part. (c) Districts shall reflect the state's diverse population and communities of interest. Communities of interest may include, but shall not be limited to, populations that share cultural or historical characteristics or economic interests. Communities of interest do not include relationships with political parties, incumbents, or political candidates. (d) Districts shall not provide a disproportionate advantage to any political party. A disproportionate advantage to a political party shall be determined using accepted measures of partisan fairness. (e) Districts shall not favor or disfavor an incumbent elected official or a candidate. (f) Districts shall reflect consideration of county, city, and township boundaries. (g) Districts shall be reasonably compact. Please follow these guidelines and as a result this map should be eliminated and put us back to a map similar to seen in map #187 where the commissioners seemed to understand and put the map where it should be. Not sure what happened, but there seems to be a significant shift in the number of maps that put Midland back with Bay City, Saginaw, and Flint. This is very disconcerting and also questionable to me. I believe that the commissioners should look into both who is putting these maps in at this late hour, as well as what the motivation may be. Please do not use this map.
Hirak Chanda
Troy should not be lumped with Macomb County. Troy has nothing in common with Macomb. Troy should be with its Oakland County neighbours ( Royal Oaks, Madison Heights etc)
Allen Wolf
Warren should be in a community of interest in Oakland County. It shouldn’t be in a district with Detroit. There are no commonalities of culture, socio-economic, or ethnicity.
Debbie Rosenman
Southfield needs to move down to District 2-VRA District.
Debbie Rosenman
I taught in Troy for more than 40 years. Troy needs to be in Oakland County. It share common interests wiht Birmingham and Bloomfield Township.
Debbie Rosenman
Warren and Sterling Heights are sister cities that share economic ties. Move Warren to District 6 and keep it in Macomb County.
Marian MAhoney
Warren belongs in Macomb county - they are the anchor city for the county and COI. This is a huge mistake to remove them from the Macomb county district.
Marian MAhoney
Troy and Rochester Hills belong in Oakland county - they are part of our Oakland county COI - it is a mistake to separate these areas from Oakland.
Murray A Gorchow
Rochester and Rochester Hills are a COI with Oakland County, in which they are located. They belong with Oakland County in CD 3--not in CD 6 with Macomb County.
Justin Scott
I am concerned that combining Midland with these other counties will hinder our flood recovery.
Murray A Gorchow
Southfield belongs in CD 2--Not CD 3
Murray A Gorchow
Troy belongs with an Oakland County CD #3--not with a Macomb County district that includes areas along Lake St. Clair. There is no COI with Macomb County, Troy has COI with Oakland County in which it is located.
Murray A Gorchow
Warren does not belong in Dist 1. Warren is the heart of Macomb County and is a COI with Macomb County. Warren should be in District 6.
Kristine McLonis
Warren needs to be kept in the same district as the rest of Macomb County. Troy needs to be kept with the rest of Oakland County. And Southfield needs to be moved from District 3 to District 2. These are all examples of communities of interest, which is one of the more important criterion for redrawing district lines.
Christian Keller
I live in Bloomfield and travel the short distance to Troy regularly. It clearly needs to be in the same district as the Birmingham Bloomfield area. These communities are closely tied and residents are back and forth all day. They should be in the same district.
Dennis Quehl
I totally disagree with the "like" comments seen in this portal that state; share a lot of the same non profits, I visit Midland a lot, and Midland shares more in common with Bay City, Saginaw, and Flint. First of all these comments come from outside Midland and Midland County so how would they know; Secondly regarding to sharing a lot of the same non profits they must be referring to Salvation Army, Red Cross, and others like this that are seen in every city and county across the state and the U.S. so it makes no sense to roll us together for that reason. We may have some of these non profits in common, but the needs are vastly different in each community. Midland is not similar to Saginaw and Flint in needs; Thirdly, regarding the point that someone stated that they visit Midland frequently does not mean that we share the same community of interest, and they would not know the relevence of this because they do not live in Midland. Visiting a city does not give you an understanding of the community of interest of that city. I travel to Birch Run quarterly, but that does not mean that Midland is similar to Birch Run in their community of interest. Lastly one comment states that we have more in common with these larger metro cities than Midland County. THat is Nonsense. We share some of the same schools, healthcare system, sports teams for youth and adults, shopping, ... We do not go to these other metro cities for any of these things. These comments do not hold water and are meant only to get Midland into their larger population of votes so that Midland is separated from rural communities and our vote is diluted.
Theresa Orlaske-Rich
Having worked in Warren with lots of Macomb County residents, I know Warren is the heart of Macomb County. It doesn't make sense that it should be with anything that is not Macomb County, it's COI.
Gina Keller
Troy needs to stay in an Oakland County district like 3.
Jonathan Warshay
I used to be a Ferndale resident. Hazel Park is separated from it. Hazel Park and Ferndale share schools and are a community of interest. They should be together.
Marci W
Warren needs to stay with Macomb County. Troy belongs with Oakland County. Troy and Novi should be together to balance out Southeast Michigan.
Jonathan Warshay
You have separated people from their counties and municipalities by including this section of Oakland and Macomb with Wayne. This district does not reflect a shared community of interests.
Mike Scott
I see comments from people from Midland saying we are similar to Saginaw and Flint. This can't be farther from the truth. We have no similarities with these two cities. Their big issues are poor schools and high crime rates. Midland has some of the best schools and a very low crime rate. People in Midland do not typically go shopping in Flint or Saginaw. This is just not accurate at all. We have much more in common with the rural counties of Gladwin, Isabella and Arenac counties especially because of the ongoing issues with the dams and flooding.
Pamela Buchholz
I definitely think Midland connects most with Bay City - Saginaw - Flint. My one concern is splitting off the rest of Midland County. I live in Homer Township, about 3 miles south of Sanford. However, I connect with Midland for schools, doctors, exercise programs, church and shopping. I know friends who live in Sanford would say the same because I see them in those places. For medical specialists, I head to Bay City or Saginaw. For more extensive shopping, to Saginaw or Flint. For regional church gatherings, I head to Flint or Clarkston. Those are all part of my "home" area. Even though I am equidistant between Mt. Pleasant and Saginaw, it never crosses my mind to go to Mt. Pleasant for doctors or shopping. They are not part of my Tri-City community. Without including Saginaw and Flint, Midland would be a pretty white-washed district, so I think it is important to keep Midland with those areas for that reason also. I appreciate the unity of interest represented by this map as well as the diversity of race and economic status, I'd just like to see ALL of Midland County included in that connection.
Laura Gray
This map ignores the communities of interest of Midland and Gladwin for flood recovery and watershed management, as well as the agricultural community of interest that benefits from representation that understands the importance of agriculture here in Midland and Central Michigan. Midland County should be kept whole in this process and be included in a district that is representative of the innately rural agriculture base that makes up Central Michigan.
Jennifer Anway
Midland County is home to more than 500 farms covering 88,000 acres. The needs of our community are different from those of big cities like Saginaw and Flint.
Jesseca Elza
The residents of Midland County want to be kept together in one congressional district for many community interests as well for the surrounding “communities of interests” that we share. My family lives in all areas of Midland County, many within just miles of city limits, and my immediate family lives less than 2 miles from the City of Midland. We were all affected by the recent flooding in both 2017 and 2020. The downtown Midland area within the City of Midland was drastically affected. As a result of the conditions downtown, all surrounding areas were directly affected as water spilled over and backed up from the merging rivers, thus affecting those living outside the city limits. Removing the city of Midland will result in a major setback in our flood recovery and flood management efforts. Gladwin County needs to remain in the same district to ensure continuity and a united effort in our flood recovery and watershed management. The City of Midland does not belong in a district with larger urban centers, Saginaw and Flint. It appears that the Commission is attempting to dilute the voices of the Midland community.

Pinconning & Linwood should be kept in with the rest of Bay County in District 11. The watershed, the shoreline, the County seat, the school district are just a few of the common interests that tie these areas together. I don't feel that our interests will be represented if we are not included with District 11.

Dislike this map- The Commission appears to be ignoring the constitution which requires that they use ‘communities of interest’ to draw fair maps. Instead it appears that the Commission is trying to dilute the voices of the Midland community by adding them into larger urban centers with Flint and Saginaw.

I believe the residents of Midland County should be kept together in one, westward facing congressional district. Please so not carve out the City of Midland from the rest of the county.

This removing the city of Midland from Midland county make NO SENSE!!!! We have suffered from an catastrophic disaster last year !! Along with Gladwin county the county of Midland is struggling to re turn to some kind of "normal". As a councilman of the Village of Sanford I strongly oppose this map.
Carol Arnosky
Keep the residents of Midland County in one district. Do not include Saginaw, Bay City, Pinconning, etc. It seems as though you are trying to keep it the same as before, where the interest and votes in the city of Midland are overshadowed & ignored by the outlying areas.

The residents of Midland County want to be kept together in one, westward facing congressional district. Please do not carve out the City of Midland from the rest of the county. It appears that the Commissioners have a misunderstanding on the 2020 flooding. The City of Midland had major flooding along with the flooding in Sanford and in Gladwin County. That’s why it is so important that Midland County remain in its entirety and Gladwin County needs to remain in the same district to ensure continuity and a united effort in our recovery. Your proposed map will result in a major setback in our flood recovery and flood management efforts. The Commission appears to be ignoring the constitution which requires that they use ‘communities of interest’ to draw fair maps. Instead it appears that the Commission is trying to dilute the voices of the Midland community by adding them into larger urban centers with Flint and Saginaw. This map ignores the communities of interest of Midland and Gladwin for flood recovery and watershed management; as well as the agricultural community of interest that benefits from representation that understands the importance of agriculture here in Midland and Central Michigan. Midland County is home to more than 500 farms covering 88,000 acres. The needs of our community are different from those of big cities like Saginaw and Flint. Midland County should be kept whole in this process and be included in a district that is representative of the innately rural agriculture base that makes up Central Michigan.

This map is terrible for Midland. I am a 30 year resident of city of Midland and want to be kept with my county and watershed counties. WE ARE PHYSICALLY CONNECTED BY OUR WATERSHED. I have lived through many floods and the multi million dollar project to restore our watershed in concert with out county and Gladwin only can be successful by having focused representation. Flint and Saginaw will not represent our needs and is a purely artificial grouping of communities. We are a small community with completely different needs compared to Saginaw and Flint and pretending otherwise is disingenuous. Saginaw and Flint have many important issues distinct from ours and we should not dilute their efforts. Please do NOT carve out the city of Midland. Midland and Sanford were ground zero for the recent flood and should not be artificially separated.

This makes very little sense and seems to bypass many of the criteria established by the constitution. It seems that the very reason to redistribute is the base reason for this map - to make one political party more competitive over another

I do not feel the Sanford Lake Sanford area should be in district 13, but rather District 11. We work, shop, worship, in the Midland area and are more in tune with this area.

This is the worst form of gerrymandering for political reasons. I grew up in Bay City and now live in Midland. There is very little that these communities share. The "tri cities" moniker is a marketing myth. Please do not put midland in with Saginaw and Filint.
Carter Houtman
At no point should Midland ever be included with Flint or Saginaw, and Midland county should never be split apart. Anyone who’s ever visited midland knows that there is no singly part anywhere in the county or city that resembles any of the district it was drawn into. Listen to residents. It’s your job.

This map makes absolutely zero sense.

this map carves out the City of Midland and adds it to Flint/Saginaw. This is a HARD NO!
Carolyn Mahaffey
Midland, Saginaw, Bay City and Flint belong in the same congressional district.
Daniel Harris
Well this is definitely better than the other recent draft maps so thank you for doing this. Keeping Kent County together looks so much better than snaking parts of it down to Kalamazoo. The part that makes the least sense is the double crossing of districts between Oakland and Macomb counties. District 6 could be entirely contained in Macomb while district 10 and 3 could split up Oakland in a more compact way.
Joel A Sheltrown
It is not a natural fit to include Edwards Twp in Ogemaw County, one little chunk into 13. Edwards Twp is a rural community with values and an economy the same as 12.
Brian Burch
Some serious gerrymandering going on here, and on the east side of this Kent County district.
Brian Burch
Good to see Kent together, but apparently that can only come at the expense of Ottawa County, which is once again Gerrymandered incoherently, and separated from Muskegon. There seems to be no rhyme or reason, except to breakup the Lakeshore economic region and make assumptions for the eastern 1/3 of our county. At the same time, placing Kalamazoo/Portage into a Lakeshore district is the opposite of reasonable. Make it simple! Restore the Lakeshore! Ottawa County Belongs Together!

I still feel like based on my experience of living in the Thumb for 11 years that Tuscola County would be better served being with the Thumb district than a Tri-Cities+Flint district. It is more agrarian and rural like the rest of the Thumb and would allow you to not dig so deep into Macomb and other areas near Detroit. It's not easy to move all of these pieces around, and you might have other concerns to address, but just thought I would mention it.

This is getting closer - I think it would be better if Southfield was moved to district 2, Dearborn moved to 1, Warren moved to 6, and Madison Heights and Troy moved to 3.
