Oak Park and Huntington Woods are in separate districts in this proposed map. Both of these cities have a strong Jewish population and should be considered a community of interest. Also, while Royal Oak Township has the same Zip Code stem as Ferndale, I think that it is more similar to Oak Park and should be in the 18th District.
I’m wondering why not all of Madison Heights is included in this proposed map of the 7th district.

I agree with the proposal for District 13 with Northeast Warren’s association with eastern Warren, Northern Roseville, and Northern St.Clair Shores shares like concerns & communities of interest.

This configuration of District 10 is not my preference for a couple of reasons: (1) It is not as good as other configurations at maintaining the Lake St. Clair suburbs COI. Other configurations keep it simple with St. Clair Shores and the Grosse Pointes being the essence of the district. That better configuration would result in candidates being required to address protection of the lake and water/sewage infrastructure as a top priority. (2) Splitting up St. Clair Shores three ways in this configuration is not necessary and waters-down the COI (i.e., the proportion of residents that care about lakefront infrastructure, protecting the lake, and addressing water/sewage issues). This is not needed if Harper Woods is not included. Or, if only precincts from Harper Woods that are in the Grosse Pointe Schools are included. . . . . This is a tough decision for the Commission, because either (a) St. Clair Shores is split 3 ways; (b) Harper Woods gets split (or not included); or (c) the Grosse Pointes will be broken-up. I think the option that minimizes the number of communities being broken-up is the best option. . . . Note - I had advocated for the Grosse Pointes plus Detroit Riverfront District that was ultimately struck down by the Courts. So that is not an option any longer.
