This map does not meet the equal protection requirement
Sonia Hudson
This is preferred plan of the group because it connects my neighborhood with others like it and Eastpointe.
Ryan Reese
At one time I thought this was a good map. Sadly, I think the rubrics used to establish this map will ultimately make it vulnerable to legal response, making it unviable. I also do not love the gross point redistricting I am seeing here, as I still do not see the CoI data that others have commented on.
Motown Sound is preferred.
Nomi Joyrich
Decent number of Black Opportunity Districts
Nomi Joyrich
Decent job on partisan fairness, although not as good as Motown
Joe Hunt
Warren is split out. Good compactness for Detroit on many levels
Sydney LaDuke
I like that this proposed map keeps the neighborhood of East English Village (Cadieux --> E. Outer Drive/Whittier and Mack --> Harper) intact. I really like that this proposal keeps the neighborhoods of East English Village, Morningside, and Cornerstone Village together.
Chris Roosen
This map unnecessarily breaks Warren into four districts, while also keeping the gerrymander of Livonia into three districts. It also contains too many districts crossing between Detroit and Oakland/Macomb Counties, dilluting the votes of Detroiters. This map seems unnecessarily gerrymandered.
George Higgins
This is a good map because it reflects the COI that spans across 8 mile in southern Warren and Northern Detroit. District 11 is particularly well drawn. More of western Warren or Warren between 10 mile and Frazho could be incorporated in district 13, but this map does a good job reflecting COIs in the area. It is also very likely VRA compliant with the number of opportunity districts it creates compared to other maps. Warren and Roseville make sense in the same HD
Lori Stone
Warren is the third largest city in Michigan this map cracks Warren into 4 districts and it is unclear if Warren would have a majority representation in ANY of the districts
Kristine McLonis
Another map in which Oak and Huntington Woods are in separate districts. Both of these cities have a strong Jewish population and should be considered a community of interest.
I do like that the proposed map which includes Ferndale and Pleasant Ridge incorporates a large portion of Detroit and retains to a degree the "bacon strip” design that was part of the previously-approved maps.
Linda Grams
I am against many of the proposed maps because they continue to keep Livonia split into 3 districts (and the same happens with many other suburbs.) The very reason Livonia is split in three was ruled unconstitutional by the federal court: to spread black Detroit voters into other districts, thereby diluting their voting power. Please, put your common sense hats on when it comes to communities of interest: start with neighborhoods, school districts, and actual communities, not the gobbly-gook you hear from partisan interest groups (like the ones that Commissioner Eid favors.)

This is a great configuration for the MENA community. I like that It has one district being all of Dearborn and the other being a combination of West Dearborn and Dearborn Heights.
Try to see if it is possible to add Melvindale back to district 3, as to not split up our community of interest.
Vivian M Sawicki
Keeping the cities of Harper Woods , Grosse Pointe Woods, and part of St. Clair Shores in the same district keeps our communities of interest together. As D.Boggia mentions, we share many common interests and concerns and have a long-standing relationship within our communities.
Imara Hyman
I choose map #320, the Spirit of Detroit. It keeps our neighborhoods in tact, the Detroit population is not dominated by the suburbs and thus gives Detroit better representation of its predominately Black popullation.
Adam Barrett
I prefer this map because it best achieves the restoration of black / Detroit voting power, which was the entire matter at issue with the lawsuit that brought about this redistricting in the first place. It also keeps Detroits own internal neighborhoods as intact / together as possible while doing this. Further, given the circumstances, this map also has shared districts with suburbs on our border. But they do not dominate us as other maps propose.
Robert Dindoffer
This configuration breaks up the Lakeshore COI and splits St. Clair Shores into 3 pieces unnecessarily. All of the residents of the Lake St. Clair Suburbs have access to and use the waterfront parks and amenities, not just the residents that live directly on the water. We all share both a common culture and common issues, including protection of the lake. Among other things, when our water has too much sewage from inland communities for us to safely enjoy our Lake, it impacts all of our residents. If the district were bigger, like in the State Senate, including more communities like Harper Woods would make sense. In fact, we are together with Harper Woods in the State Senate. But for a smaller State House District, the connections between the lakeshore COI communities are the most important.
D Boggia
Harper Woods should be in the same district as Grosse Pointe Woods. We share the same school district. Also, with St. Clair Shores, we share the Milk River Intercounty Drain District and a pump station (waste processing) and Board representatives. So we all have the same water and environmental issues.
We all have the same flooding issues we are trying to resolve.
Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods share public services, including mutual fire and police aid and animal control.
Harper Woods is part of the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce.
Since the current district is Harper Woods and St. Clair Shores, adding the Grosse Pointes makes the change less disruptive.
Gerianne Lapratt
Keeping Harper Woods with the Grosse Pointes would keep our Senate district together.
Also, precincts 5 & 6 in Harper Woods are part of the Grosse Pointe School District, so it would keep the school district together.
