This Redistricting Map is likely not in Compliance with the Voting Rights Act. It would also tip the scale in favor of one Political Party.
Ryan Reese
This map demonstrates every problem with not crossing the 8 mile boundary. While symbolically the boundary exists, realistically the data does not show this. The population of people that I live next to and work among are demonstrably similar to the population just south in 8 mile. The hard boundary of Water Lily, resulting in too few opportunity districts and a badly representative structure, simply shows us why this is no longer a viable way of looking at the districting issue if we want to ensure fairness for all Detroit citizens.

Likely not VRA compliant and also, is unfair from a partisan perspective. Partisan fairness should get better with new maps, not worse. I oppose this map for these and other reasons.

This map has very few Black Opportunity districts

This map is very unfair. it has no partisan fairness

The new District 10 and District 11 map overlooks the fact that the Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods have always been connected economically, socially, and politically. Residents shop in the same areas, share a portion of the GP school district, and have similar political concerns.

This map leans too far Republican to respect partisan fairness

Please consider the COA, Harper Woods and the Grosse Pointes, especially Grosse Pointe Woods. The amount of services we share is immense. Not only do we share a school district, the Milk River Water, emergency services, etc, we share the HELM which services all the seniors in the 6 cities.

How are Birmingham and Oak Park a COI? Why are Farmington Hills and Southfield when they could almost be intact as districts on their own? Common sense...the commission seems to be lacking it even after all these years and millions of tax payer dollars.
Vivian M Sawicki
The City of Harper Woods should be connected to the cities of Grosse Pointe Woods and St. Clair Shores because we have natural and long-standing community connections that include water districts, city services, school districts and community interests and concerns. This map ignores the traditional COI existing in these communities.
