Oak Park and Huntington Woods are in separate districts in this proposed map. Both of these cities have a strong Jewish population and should be considered a community of interest. I do like that the proposed map which includes Ferndale and Pleasant Ridge incorporates a large portion of Detroit, particularly the University District. I don’t quite agree with Pleasant Ridge being in a different proposed district from Ferndale; but perhaps in terms of economic demographics that would make sense.

This map is not ideal. Although it does keep Harper Woods with its traditional COI of Grosse Pointe Woods and Shores, it does not include any area of St. Clair Shores, which is also a COI with us. In addition, it includes a portion of the city of Eastpointe, which has no traditional interaction with our community. Thank you for considering the importance of COI in your map creation. Having representation that respects our community struggles is important.
